I am suffering from pain in penis,pubic area.its a stabbing pain.
After pee, I have given a sudden pressure to flush the drops out. I heard a tick sound and from that day started pain.Its almost now 3 months.I have consulted ortho care specialist and also urologist.But can’t diagnose what’s the problem.
Can anyone help me what should be the problem. Is that any nerve problem like pudendal neuralgia.?
The pain is mild or some times stabbing.
I’ve had similar pain for the last 12 months and the only thing that has brought me any relieve is the nerve blocker Gabapentin.
I’ve had an MRI which didn’t show anything and I haven’t had an official diagnosis but I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of nerve problem.
H I just started Gabopentin for pelvic discomfort. How much do you take day and how long does it take before it starts working?...I heard it could take a week or so before the Gabopentin gives some relief
It only took a few days and has made a big difference.
I take 1 300mg tablet 3 times a day.
Ok I just started taking 1 300 mg once at night. My dr said if no difference then go up to 300 mg twice a dayfor another 4 days and then if that does not work then 300 mg 3 times a day.. I heard 300 mg a day probably will not be enough
I’m not completely pain free but can cope currently on 3 a day. To be pain free I’d probably have to be on a higher dosage but don’t want to get overly reliant on them.
I mostly have tingling burning sensation. Can cope for the most part but it can be a nuisance especially when burning thru the buttocks creates a slight urge to urinate when you really don’t need too.
that sensation of needing to pee and knowing you don’t need to go is so frustrating, it’s mentally draining and almost as annoying as the pain!
Exactly my physical therapist worked on me this morning and triggered that feeling. Had more burning than usual today. Btw I had this 3 years ago and got better. This time around there is more tingling and burning. So I had to turn to the medication. I take tramadol too sometimes
I get that too. It's tormenting. Sometimes it's like a pressure pain and peeing may relieve it but if my bladder is not full and I try to pee the clamping pressure pain can get worse and throb. It's very uncomfortable.
I had physical therapy on Thursday. The therapist did internal pressing and massaging anally for 30 minutes. Felt that was a bit much. Since Thursday I have had increased symptoms such as burning which leads to more urination. I called the therapist and she said increased symptoms should only last a day or two. Do you think if I take more Gabopentin that will calm things down? I also have flexeril too. Wonder If I should take them both...sucks cause I was feeling a little better prior to the therapist working on me
People often report things getting worse before getting better. I wouldn't overdo it with the meds. Try one thing maybe along with some stretches and maybe Quercetin in the form of Red Bush tea to try to calm things down. I'm wondering if the PT has hit some of your trigger points? I hope it starts to calm down for you soon. If not try to get onto the doctor on the phone.
I never heard of the Red Bush tea. Wonder if I can find it You think the Quercetin or vitamin C will work? She did say it would get worse but I did not think it would last this long.
Hello mate. You can get red Bush tea in any supermarket now. It's relatively cheap.

I’ve tried pelvic floor exercises and I felt worse after them, but different things work for different people, good luck
I am into 5 weeks of physical therapy and still no relief. Last two days have been bad. Have had increase burning in the buttocks which has probably increases burning and urgency in penis.. very annoying the last two days....went to urgent care dr today and he prescribed prednisone and Cipro. Told me to stop taking Gabopentin for now. Wants me to see orthopedic back specialist next Friday...
I have been in pelvic floor PT for over a year and while I can’t say I’m ‘healed’ I can say things are so much better. I’m religious about doing my exercises and staying the course. A lifetime of physical activity, developing considerable arthritis in my back, bad habits of clenching muscles/ guarding against the pain, and thinking I just wasn’t working out enough, I worked out harder. Bad idea. Then there was the over stretching which lead to more problems. After years of misdiagnosis and the wrong kind of physical therapy I was finally directed to a Pelvic floor specialist. It’s been a nightmare living with this problem but patience (Not my strong suit) and learning about my body and it’s holding patterns has been a godsend. Also breathing exercises and biofeedback have helped tremendously. Slow and steady has been working for me. The only medication I’ve taken has been OTC . From all of the posts I’ve read on this forum and others it seems like drugs and surgeries haven’t been all that effective. I hope you can give the PFT time to work. Best wishes and hang in there.
Thank you for replying and I am so happy your doing well. I think the more that sufferers of this condition get relief the better the outlook will be plus new types of stretches can be incorporated into a therapy they may have been successful in the past. Just curious how long were you into your therapy before you noticed some relief. When this happened to me 3 years ago it took about 3 months before I noticed relief. However this time I have more tingling and burning.
I wish I’d kept track but I do know there were peaks and valleys and flares. I would say it took close to three months before I didn’t feel like I’d been hit between the legs with a baseball bat. Releasing the obterator internus and trying to calm down the Pudental nerve helped a lot but that’s still an issue. I also backed off the foam rolling and pressure points release with the tennis ball, which felt good at first but ultimately seemed to irritate the problem. When things weren’t really improving as well as they should have I had an MRI which revealed bilateral hamstring tears, a gluteus medius tear and some bursitis in the right hip. Ugh had to back off activities I really loved. I have a huge garden and spend hours bent over weeding digging shoveling. All of which further irritates the pelvic floor and torn muscles. I took at easy for a few months and applied Diclofenic gel to all of the torn muscles and bursitis and that seemed to help.
Then there is the burning sensation that is so hard to deal with, still that darn pudental nerve problem and the need to let go. Sitting is the worst especially if the chair makes me slouch in any way. The good news is I’m learning how to deal with the problem and now am down to twice a month for therapy. Sorry to ramble but I think you understand. It’s so hard to talk to friends and family about this problem.
It’s ok I love to listen. I had a cat scan and it was normal but like yourself I am looking at a mri soon. I was working in my yard Monday bending over and kneeling picking weeds. Things seem to flare up for me more after that. What sucks for me this time around is that when I lie down the symptoms increase causing this pressure feeling like I have to go to the bathroom. I found putting ice wrapped in a pillow case helps or a heating pad. This was not a issue 3 years ago
Yes, ice and heating pads are our friends. I will use ice after doing yard work. I frequently experience the same problem with laying on my back. Along with a heating pad I found putting a small pillow under my lower back/right above my tailbone helps to reduce some of the pressure? that somehow reduces the burning sensation. I’ve no idea how or why that works but it does help enough that I can read for awhile and then turn over and fall asleep.
Morning. Just had to take tramadol. This feeling is so weird. The burning/tingling thru the buttocks seems to make the penis feel tender. I wonder if it’s the pudendal nerve?
I've got the burning in the buttocks and upper inner thigh. I think it's the pudendal nerve and it is so painful. I also take tramadol. I tried gabapentin, but that gave me horrendous side effects.
