Cryoablation experiences for Pudendal neuralgia?

I am considering this out of several treatment ideas, but would like to hear about some others experiences as info on this is extremely limited. I have a few questions:

1) What was the nature of your pain? And worst symptom? I.e. burning/allodynia/hypergelsia etc.

2) Did cryoablation help/hurt?

3) In the case of improvement, does this mean because the nerve is essenitally turned off? Does this affect normal sensation (ie pleasure)? Surprisingly I cannot seem to find an answer to this question on the web.

I believe dr. Prologo is doing cryoablation of the pudendal nerve and having a lot of positive outcomes just Google Dr prologo Pudental nerve cryoablation and all the info will pop up

Thats where I saw this, but couldnt find this info unfortunately. He said minimal side effects, but didnt address the question of sensation difference--everything? just pain? pleasure sensations effected?

Info is scarce at best.

I had the hot cryoablation (it seemed like there was more side effects with the cold cryoablation). I had it down in Phoenix (through dr Hibner) and for me at least it seemed like it exacerbated my nerve pain (which I have had from my tailbone to my feet). I didn’t have any benefit from it, but I know the dr who did it has had some success. Dr. Hibner said if I need surgery, all the other treatments I have had (and there have been a lot), wouldn’t work. I am at the point where it’s surgery (which isn’t a guarantee and a long recovery process) or acceptance. I put it off and of course now is impossible.

Hope this is helpful.

I had it done along with Pudendal Nerve Injection in Dallas, Texas. Immediately after, I did get relief, it was my 3rd injection. The relief was very short lived, I believe within hours. Pain went up as well as BP, my pulse was 120 when I got home, a 2.5 hour ride in back seat. I do believe everyones experience is their own. I believe the nerve can be injured in different areas and to different degrees so I can see how different options gives different results. I developed pudendal pain after numerous repairs that started with a deep episiotomy with childbirth in 1977. The last repair was Nov 1996 that started my pain. I was one of 3 groups to go to Nantes, France for pudendal release surgery. In Dallas I had a MRN last year. Dr. Kelly Scott says she believes my problem now is nerve bundles caught in scar tissue. My cryoablation was with heat.

Redraws17 Hi, not sure if you are still checking this thread. I am scheduled to have a pudendal nerve block on Friday and if it works the cryoablation to follow- which is with cold (not heat). Did you ever get the procedure done? Just wondering how it worked for you. Thanks.

Hi Layla, where in the world are you? And, do let us know how it goes. I'm in the UK but can't find anyone who will do the cold/freezing cryoablation.

Hi, I’m in Illinois, having the procedure done in Chicago. I just had the diagnostic block done yesterday and did have about 80% improvement in my pelvic pain for a few hours so I’m hoping that will be enough to get the cryoablation. Have you had the diagnostic block done yet to confirm the pudendal nerve is the cause of your pain?

Hi Layla, yes, I have. I have PN. There's no Dr in the UK that offers this as a treatment as apparently there's a high risk of incontinence. I went a little bit mad and contacted so many Drs in the UK asking about it but they've so far all had the same answer.

It's strange to me because tons of people have had it done, some with great success while others not so much. Anyway the UK is a bit backward at times! haha. I hope your procedure goes well! I'm sure it will! Best of luck and do feedback how you got on. :)
