I hope someone can help me. I had Lap surgery 4 weeks ago and I noticed that my belly button area is weeping after the glue went off 4 days ago. I don’t feel any pain, no foul smell. I tried to clean it but it keeps coming back I’m just worried what’s going on.

Hi,

I’ve had this myself with all of my laps. My last one it was one of the other port sites that was difficult to heal and took several months. I had a small opening that was leaking yellowish liquid but like you no infection. The GP felt they didn’t use enough glue in my case as the glue come off after 2 days. I would definitely ring your GP practice for advice as they may want you to keep it covered but clean daily or come into the surgery to see the practice nurse so she can clean it but take a look at the same time. As yours has come off at 4 weeks the hospital where you had your surgery would expect the GP to take over your post surgery care unless it’s serious but yours doesn’t appear to be one. Mine did eventually heal so please don’t worry but please ring up for advice. I hope this helps.
