Prolapse

is?i, I have just been diagnosed with a rectrocele after a chat with my doctor over the phone. I am on numerous medications 6 of which can cause constipation. I kew I was constipated and spent money on every laxative I could buy. However, during the conversation he prescribed me with what is supposed to be the strongest laxative in the world! I have been taking 4 sachets a day now since Monday and have only just had a very minor bowel movemant. The prolapse is still evident and is almost outside my vagina now. has anyone else had/got this and if so could they give me some idea of how long the recovery stages

Have you been referred to see a specialist? I have a rectocele and use irrigation as it’s the only thing that works for me.

Hi swishy, thanks for your reply. I had gto talk to my GP over the phone so it was diagnosed as a rectocele. In the current situation there is no plan to see a specialist. I am just getting more worried now because it has nearly come down further so I am much more aware of it now. I have been extremely constipated over the past 3 weeks or so and he prescribed me the strong laxative which is starting to work ok. What happens if it does come right out of my vagina? GP said it's not serious and should rectify itself over a few week, but if the laxative doesn't work within 14 days then I need to contact him again, but no mention of the rectocele. Any tips/idess of what to do?

Thank you

Hi I don’t want to give you any wrong advice so I would pursue with your Dr if it gets worse.

But I’ll share what I’ve learnt and that’s that Irrigation works for me and I use an enema kit I bought from Amazon.

Rectoceles can be pushed back from inside the vagina temporarily but won’t reverse themselves. Laxatives have little effect but try senakot and pelvic floor exercises will help strengthen the muscles.

I hope you get some relief soon I know how it feels!
