Hello🙂 Did Pelvic Floor Therapy help you for your Pudendal Neuralgia or Vulvadynia? If so, how long did it take? Thank you all so much for answering these questions?

Hi there

I had PT for vulvodynia which involved a desensitisation routine which the PT taught me to do each day at home, with graded steps as my tolerance to touch increased. I think I was about 60 % improved after 6 months. It took a few years to get to where I am now at about 80% improved. I found it more difficult to learn to relax my hypertonic pelvic floor muscles which go through different phases of not too bad up to painful. If you'd like to know details of the desensitisation routine you can private message me. Hope this helps x

I'm really interested in your desensitization routine also! could you please give me the info for that I would really appreciate it thank you

Me too please. Thanks!

I would be really interested in your desensitization routine also.... if you could pass me info would really appreciate it. I have been diagnosed with Pudenal neuropathy which at first they thought was vulvodynia, but I still feel it is more vulvodynia and it all drives me crazy as I sit down all day at work and cannot seem to get on top of it. So delighted for you that you are feel a good way better x

Can it help pelvic pain caused by nerve damage as well?

Hi Alan

Yes, but it's only relevant to females as it's about improving the symptoms of vulval pain.

Its not for me, its for my sister which suffered of pelvic pain damage during a minor surgery...

Me too please

I am interested too. I cant do the Whats app. Will you PM me how you did the desensitisation?

Pelvic Floor Therapy did help me quite a bit - relaxed the muscles and taught me to relax them on my own as well. I can now control mos of the flare-ups as they occur. I used to panic when they began but I now know what to do to minimize the effects. The key is to not let you mind run wild and panic.

Thank you so very much!! Did you suffer from pudendal neuralgia?

I still do - been two years but I have been able to manage the issue with PT - exercises and a little bit of help from the drug Lyrica - had to also learn how to do internal manipulation myself. You reach a point where you will do anything to get the pain to go away.

I did take300mg a day I’m now down to 75mg but can feel the pain . I have also fou Acupunture to be amazing x

I’m just weening myself of lycria ( pregablin) such an awful drug but did dull the pain are you able to explain what exercises you do as I suffer the same thing .

I am still taking Lyrica as well as doing the pelvic exercises. Happy baby pose, hamstring stretch on a door jam, leg crosses while laying down ,etc. I have taken them from a variety of places. Just found what works for me. Main thing is to find a PT that you can not only get treatment from but talk to. No one understands this issue when u try to explain. If u don’t have a good PT I have a nationwide list. I can send to you if you want to send me your email privately. FYI I am in southern CA.

Lastly I am taking 150 mg twice a day an tried to lower it to 75 mg but the pain comes back. It’s a horrible drug but no choice right now. No longer have the issue of can’t sleep because of the pain. A 12 on a scale of 1-10. Luckily in a good place currently.

I was wondering if you have side effects from Lyrica what they are and if they go away after you taking it for a while I'm about to try gabapentin which I hear is less invasive than Lyrica but supposed to work.... I was also wondering if you had tried any pain blocks Botox cryoablation anything like that and if you had a nerve MRI to see if it was an entrapped nerve or just neuralgia? I think I've spoken to you before but there's so many people that I may have forgotten...thanks

Lyrica makes me loopy after a while, weight gain that's tough to control, tired at times - just don't feel right sometimes. I have not tried a nerve block or had an MRI - been able to control things with PT and Lyrica - stretches and light exercises. Going to see a pain specialist in 6 weeks to see if he has ideas to get me off the drugs.

Yeah I took Flexeril for 3 and 1/2 months had no pain at all when I was taking that then I slowly came off at and now I have some pain after bowel movements and I never quite feel like the rectal area is out of pain but it's a lot better than it was after 8 months of physical therapy... But now I'm starting to think the physical therapy flares it up...I do have a wand that I do vaginally but the pain is in the inferior rectal branch of the pudental nerve I've had an MRI and a CT scan but I'm afraid to have a colonoscopy in case it flares it up really bad... I'm going to be trying gabapentin now just to see if that helps with the rest of the pain .. it's manageable but after a while it just gets you down and you want to be normal again I haven't done any of the nerve blocks or any of that stuff but I think now that my muscles are relaxed the nerve is less irritated...I haven't been taking anything for the last two weeks I'm just doing my stretches and breathing meditation and it's been okay but feels irritated especially after bowel movements... I may do another course of the Flexeril since it helped so much along with some gabapentin... I hope the doctor can tell you what you can do to get off the meds but I've come to terms that we maynJust have to be on meds long term

I did 4 months of regular PT, but am looking to find a good pelvic floor PT for this condition. I would also like to get a CT guided nerve block, but don't know where to get that in SE Wisconsin. So far I just take tramadol and use a TENS unit. Where are you located?

I am in Phx Arizona... Originally from England but I've been here almost 40 years... I can't use a TENS unit because I have a hip implant and they prefer me not to use any electrical stimulation...I feel like I've spoken to you a couple of times but maybe not... How did you get the diagnosis?

I have self diagnosed just by looking up my symptoms, but I could be wrong, that's what I'm trying to find out.
