Hi Allymilly,

It is possible to have a pregnancy with fibroids but every woman’s situation is different as they might have other gynaecological conditions alongside such as endometriosis, PCOS. Although these conditions don’t necessarily mean a pregnancy isn’t possible. I would definitely ask at your next appt with GP or gynaecologist. You might be asked to try and depending on age if not pregnant within 6 months to come back for treatment. Not all fibroids increase. Fibroids are not associated with any health problems with offspring

I had fibroids present while pregnant 3 times, no problems. Still have them aged 65 and no they don't shrink as many docs will tell us !

I grew large fibroids with my first pregnancy, inside and outside of my uterus. My pregnancy was fine except for the pain because one of the largest fibroids was between my colon and my uterus. For both pregnancies my water broke and I had labor for 15-18 hours but the fibroids held up the progression of childbirth so I had emergency c-sections. So, that was the only moment during pregnancy that the babies had any effect from the fibroids.

They were both born healthy, and remain healthy. I had the fibroids removed a year after my 2nd pregnancy. And now, 8 years later I’m having scar tissue removed, the result of have three open abdominal surgeries.

For some women fibroids aren’t a factor, they certainly didn’t shrink, and I think their placement in the body determines their impact on your pregnancies and quality of life afterwards.

Due to the fibroids I developed pelvic varicosities, because of the blood supply, and two years ago I had to have some arteries ablated because they were large veins that would fill with blood and become very painful.

As the other user stated, every persons journey is different. I also have an autoimmune disease which was carefully monitored during pregnancy, had my tsh levels kept in hyperthyroid mode to help protect the babies from low IQ it other problems.

But, again, I was diligent, my doctors were diligent, and I have two healthy and strong girls as a result.

Good luck with your pregnancy.
