Hi everyone, I have really been struggling with pelvic pain for 7 years. Mine is due to muscle spasms. Prior to 7 years ago, I used to occasionally feel a twinge of pain that I thought was a UTI coming on, I would drink water and try to relax and it would go away within minutes. Little did I know that this was the start.
After suffering in an abusive relationship, my pelvic pain issues came to a head and they were constant. My muscles were so tight I could not tell the difference between UTI and pelvic spasm, so much that I ignored a UTI until I was bleeding. And UTIs were constant, because I could not get all the urine out on the toilet. I would have to practice relaxation exercises to pee and I was in agony constantly, so much so that I seriously considered suicide. Doctors then did testing and found that my urine was clear of bacteria and I had no cysts, so they gave up on me. After online research I discovered tight pelvic floor and took myself to a physical therapist who specializes in it, luckily there was one in my state.
The best thing she ever did for me is suggest using a TheraWand at home. Because my issue is severe tight muscles that cause massive pain, the wand reaches to those spots and lets me massage the knots out from the inside. Unfortunately, while this works for a day or two of no pain to very little pain, it always comes back. I'm happy to have the wand but I am frustrated the spasms come back as soon as they're gone. And I am also worried that having the pain for so long has taught my body to tense. It's hard to know how to fix the problem at the root, but I haven't given up.
I am new here so I wanted to introduce myself. I'd love to chat with those of you who also share tight pelvic floor.

I have levator ani syndrome which causes very painful spasms in pelvic floor which leads to a lot of issues moving my bowel and bladder. What works for me is a combination of trigger point vaginal therapy from my specialist physio and Botox injections into pelvic floor.
Injections don't eradicate problems more make the condition more easy to manage with reduction in spasms.
Injections last about 3mths then I get a top up. It's trying to balance therapy with meds to find out what works for me.
Hope this is helpful and you get the best treatment that works for you.

I’m having a pelvic pain for 11 months. I visited so many doctors, most of them had no idea what is going on with me, often feeling abandoned. I was in so much pain, lost 12 pounds in 2 months, literally lost hope that my life will be normal again. Finally 5 months ago I was diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction due to muscle spasm. My symptoms are rectal pain, sitting pain, issues with bladder.
The life changed after I read the book written by Dr Wise and Dr Anderson “A headache in the pelvis”. This book is a “bible” for patients who suffers from pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.
I contacted Dr Wise and went to his clinic for 3 days. I was taught his method called Wise-Anderson protocol and for the last month I’m following this protocol at home in addition to PT sessions. Even I’m in the beginning of the journey to get to the symptoms free phase, I already feel better. My pain is not so intense and my symptoms are improving. I highly recommend to read this book, it helped so many people. Hope this is helpful.
Have they investigated you for interstitial cystitis??
Read up on it , it may be cause of your muscle spasms and an infection in bladder will not always show in specimen as the infection is bedded in the bladder cells and spaces ( interstitial)
There is treatment for interstitial cystitis and both men and women can suffer with this for years going undiagnosed.
Hope this helps.
And yes, it sounds like you are doing trigger point release for muscle spasms, with thevwand thing, well done.
Has anyone suggested you try lignocaine gel in and around vagina areas????
Had unbearable pain in my vagina every time I peed. It was agony. After being misdiagnosed for a couple years, I finally got to see a specialist (urogynacologist). She said it was my pelvic floor muscle spasming and she prescribed Cyclobenzaprine - 10 mg 3 times a day. This was on top of my 1800 mg/day of Gabapentin. It helped immensely. Pain pretty much disappeared. Eventually, it started coming back. I upped the Gabapentin to 2300 mg/day, but it started affecting my memory. I am now trying CBD gummies and it looks promising. I am down to 500 mg/day of Gabapentin..
