Hi, I’m Kenzie and I’m 20 years old. I’m a Junior at Central Michigan University and I’m studying Early Childhood Development and Learning.

I got my period when I was 9 years old and from then on, the chronic pelvic pain began. Nobody believed me when I lived with excruciating pain. I had irregular and heavy periods that sometimes lasted months. I would have hot flashes, inner turmoil, crying fits, and even fainting spells, but I lived alone in my world of pain. The chronic pelvic pain would come and go, regardless of if I was on my period or not.

It took a trip to the emergency room when I was 15 years old for my family to realize that I was being honest about how debilitating the pain was. The doctors immediately and had always thought that my pain was gynecological. Sadly, after 5 years of birth control, surgeries, procedures, and no answers, I was just told last month by a medical professional that my pain was not in fact related at all to my reproductive system.

Although I am relieved, I am bitter sweet. I came home this summer to work on my mental and physical health, since the chronic pelvic pain has altered my emotional intelligence, thus rendering me with depression. I am in the midst of finding myself and finding the root of my pain, while also finding pain remedies since the standard Tylenol and Motrin never work. I have physical therapy sessions and am soon meeting with a doctor that can hopefully understand and provide me with some medicine or answers.

Thanks :)

Where is your pain mostly? Rectal, tailbone, pirenium, vaginal or urinary?? You may have interstitial Cystitis or pudental nerve issues ..also could be too tight pelvic floor ...where then Botox can help

My pain is mostly in the levator ani muscle group, which was what I believe the doctors mistook for vaginal, since now they believe that my pain is not gynecological.

I would recommend trying dct exercise programme. Many people have had a lot of relief from it. Above all it is safe. Check it out on freedomfrompelvicpain. com

I am sorry you have these struggles, especially at such a young age. It may not be helpful, but if you get a chance, read about oxalates and salicylates in the diet. I know that watching those has improved my pain levels all over my body.

I hope you find relief and healing soon.
