Augmentin does seem to ease the pain of a diagnosed PN...no entrapment. Does anybody ever heard of this?

I started using augmentin 7 weeks ago to treat a chronic urethritis. One pill a day alternating on a weekly basis with ciproxin

Both are antibiotics. However when I started with augmentin after a couple of days the itching and pain within the rectum disappeared for almost 80/90%. Only augmentin does the trick. When I stop taking it and start with ciproxin all the pain, burning and itching returns within 2 days.

My emg of the pudendal nerve was not ok on the right side.

Augmentin contains an acid called Clavulan.

I really can't think of anything else than that the acid in one way or the other has an effect on the neuralgia.

Is there anyone who has ever heard of this?

Hope to receive some valuable answers.

I have never heard of that, but there are many things I'm still learning about PN. The Mayo Clinic was reluctant to say PN to me due to the many other things that fall under that umbrella. Therefore, I was termed with pelvic neuralgia even though all the signs pointed to PN, but my story is more complicated. I will look up this drug. If I may be of any help, please ask. I have been on my journey for over three years. Sometimes we never know until we ask.

God bless
