I had replied to a post already about bladder symptoms with pudendal neuralgia and this is what I've been experiencing now. Well not only do I have the not voiding fully but now when I am voiding I have very bad pain in the kidney region on my right side. Could it be that I may now have an infection because I can't fully void. I don't see a doctor for this until May because I'm going to Atlanta Georgia for the cryoablation. Do you all feel I should try to move up that appointment? This pain is new and just last 2 days. Every time I do go to a doctor all my tests always come back negative but this pain is residual after I go to. It is just uncomfortable not severe. Any thoughts? Should I drink more diluted cranberry? I don't know. Any advice here would be great. Thanks Debbie. 😿

I don't have PN but have bladder pain syndrome (IC), evidence of an obstruction in my urinary system and retention problems- I know it's not been affected by my endometriosis or adenomyosis so can rule that out. I do know when I get a severe UTI/kidney infection makes the pain worse which can be a very painful dull ache and I very often get pain mainly in my right ureter and kidney which can persist for weeks. Have you had any urodynamic tests at all or an x ray with contrast looking at your urinary system? Was a urine sample sent off to be cultured for any infection as the dipstick that test for infection, protein etc aren't particularly reliable and often give patients a negative result for infection when they actually do have one. I know I've had to push my GPs a few times but because I'm under a urology team at the hospital it's a little easier. I think it's so easy at times for us with at least one condition to at times assume any pain is all down to that condition - I've done that myself a few times. It can take a while for us/doctors to sometimes join the dots together. I probably wouldn't wait until May though - do you have a GP as I know the American medical system is very different to the UK health care system. I hope you get some relief soon
I've been hospitalized for kidney infection before because of a clogged urterer stent due to kidney stone fragments getting stuck. Do you have fever or nausea? Those are big indicators for an infection. I would move your appointment up. Kidney stones can cause flank pain. If I were you, I would request an KUB x-ray, at the very least to rule out a kidney stone. I have plenty of experience with kidney stones. A CT scan would be better, but a KUB x-ray would show if you had stones. Good luck!
That's why I was thinking possible kidney stones coming on because I've been on topamax for several years and one of the biggest side effects of that drug is kidney stones. The pain is still there today and I do have a 3:30 appointment with my GP. I can't wait until May for this. I'll lose my mind. With all the other stuff we go through this is just the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for your quick replies. I'm hoping my GP sends me in the right direction today. Unfortunately when it rains it pours now my cat Bella who has been more understanding than some humans I know with me started to cough yesterday too. If any of you have animals. You know this is not generally a good sign. And vet bills are just as expensive if not more than our bills. Life doesn't get any better right now. Thank you. Debbie 😔
