Do you care about pelvic pain research ?

Edinburgh University is leading a research funding application to do a good quality trial on one of the medications that may be prescribed to help persistent pelvic pain. As yet there have been no such trials. Girls/women, can you help with these two simple questions please ?

Patient survey

As you are aware, evidence-based treatments for chronic pelvic pain are limited, and treatment is often unsatisfactory. Gabapentin is increasingly being prescribed due to reports of effectiveness in other chronic pain conditions, but there are insufficient data supporting its value in persistent pelvic pain specifically. We (a team of researchers from Edinburgh, Oxford, Southampton, Birmingham and Aberdeen) are therefore planning a trial to try and show whether gabapentin is useful in the management of persistent pelvic pain in women. In order to help us with our trial application, we would be very grateful if you could answer a brief questionnaire. The questions should take no longer than 1-2 minutes to complete and can be accessed at the link below:

Thank you

Your responses to this were invaluable, thank you to everyone who participated. The patient input was praised as exemplary, the trial has been funded by NIHR and is now recruiting patients.

Information about the trial and the centres in England and Scotland that are accepting patients are on our website : pelvicpain.org.uk/index.php...
