Hi Judy,
My hysterectomy was with front and back prolapse which were done with mesh. I now have Pudendal Neuralgia and have been on various medication. Now awaiting 2nd round of more extensive nerve blocks.
If you have any further questions, just let me know.
Regards
Marion
I had a mesh prolapse repair in 2007 and woke up in extreme pain and my life has never been the same we tried different types off pain killers orally and internally as welI.I now take 150mg lyrica and 100mg tramadol morning and night which helps some. I have had 4 prudential blocks which helped some but less each time a mesh trim was also done at one off these operation in early 2010 I had the mesh arms snipped to see if that would help the pain. This did not help so removal off the right arm off the mesh this helped but never ever pain free in the middle 2012 I had the rest off the mesh from under bladder and left arm still in pain and because mesh has been removed have prolapsed again I have a painful prolapse as well In late December I had a Medtronic pain stimulator which is a small tense machine inserted in my bottom right cheek. and wires send small currents to the nerve before it gets to the brain but alas 1 of my leads is lying on a nerve so back for another operation I am going to give it 1 more time.
there are so many stories I could tell off my nearly 6 year journey and it has totally changed how I can live my life and I am still coming to terms with this and some times its really hard.my painful neuralgia was caused by mesh used for prolapse operation. And my journey has not finished yet.
I know a lady (south, UK) who has had exactly this problem.
She waking up from surgery with pudendal pain. After waiting almost 18 months for the pain to 'settle down' (it didn't of course) she has had much of the mesh removed but the surgeon was unable to decompress the pudendal nerve as there is SO much scar tissue from the mesh.
The lady in question knows that the first surgery was totally necessary, if only they had not used mesh!!! as this article states.
Thanks Judy
