Does anyone know how to ease a dry mouth. My mouth feels hot and tongue feels as if there are sores on it although there doesn't seem to be anything visable. I know this can be one of the symptoms but I've only started having this problem over the last few weeks although I was diagnosed with PBC 6 years ago.

Dry mouth
i have a very dry mouth and am constantly sucking sweets and also use a saliva spray. A while ago my tongue was very sore, at the time my folate was very low and it can be one of the symptoms. I have now been on folic acid for 4 months and my tongue has slightly improved. Could be worth getting it checked out.
I use a mouth spray too. If you're in the UK Boots do a good dry mouth spray.
Have you been checked for Sjogren's Symdrome? I have that along with my PBC and a couple other conditions. I drink lots and lots of water, minimize caffeine (most of my teas are decaf), limit sugary things and then there are a number of oral sprays and mouth washes.
I have fibromyalgia as well. I'd still be persistent with the doctor, after all, he/she works for you, right? PBC and Sjogren's are common together.
Hi, I have glandosane, synthetic saliva spray from the Dr and you can get biotene gel from boots, love this as it means I can now sleep most of the night without waking up every couple of hours with a dry mouth. They also do a toothpaste and mouthwash.. Hope this helps. Sharon xx
I had Saliveze mouth spray but have just changed to A S Saliva Orthana which I prefer. Both were on prescription from Boots.
My dentist advised chewing sugar free gum to get the saliva going and this does help.

I used to chew gum to aleviate the dry mouth but now I get a burning sensation from the mint ( which is quite common, I think), so that then my mouth is even worse than the dry feeling. I get loads of reactions to different foods, I'm not really sure what I'm intollerant to and what I'm not as it seems to change from day to day!
Hi. I feel like my symptoms are the same as yours. I can not chew gum the mint stings my tongue. I can no longer each salt and vinegar crisps , chocolate stings sometimes , my favourite takeaway away - Chinese Curry , I carnt eat..I gutted ...I have PBC but not on treatment as markers not high enough yet . My sister has it full blown though. Somedays are better than others...even if I don't eat them foods, some days are bad with the dryness and my eyes..So dry .....other days not to bad. I think it something triggering it..food or additive in something...but how do I find out what I don't know ..best of luck. X
As long as the sugar free gum has Xylitol in it it is ok . Have you tried any other flavours Roseter? If you have the same problem again then you are left with the sprays . I hope you can solve it as it must be very unpleasant for you.

I have the dry mouth, nose and one eye bothers me often. No Dr. has diagnosed me, but I am constantly drinking water or catoraide. Also use a nose spray or wet a Qtip for my nose. Lately I keep getting numb lips, which is suppose to go along with the loss of CO2.
