I hope everyone is doing well this morning. I was hoping if someone could give me some advice on what helps with dry skin on the face. I've only just started suffering with this. Is this something that pbc can cause? Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone has found a face product that has relieved the dry skin, which in turn causes itching and a red rash. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Dry skin
I know there are so many over the counter products that boast about face moisterizing. Not sure if any are really good or not. I would suggest going to a dermatologist and see what they recommend if this is possible. I hope some other members here offer you suggestions too. I was very recently wanting to get a 'good' face cream for my aging 70+ year old face. With the itching and rash being a problem along withe dry skin, see a dermatologist if at all possible. They may even a recommend an over the counter product that they believe is better than another. Let us know what you find to use... best of luck. I would try not to use soap on your face though if at all possible. Just a thought....
I have been to the dermatologist for laser treatments. The doctor there did have a decent moisturizer and she said to put a light layer of Vaseline over your moisturizer at bedtime. This is not very exciting but it does seem to help with dry skin. Lately I use a regular over the counter moisturizer and the Vaseline at bedtime as she suggested and it works really well. Honestly, I have a hard time finding a moisturizer that works longer than 15 minutes for daytime. Even the one the dermatologist has. But I do feel like I have the nighttime issue worked out for now anyway.

No, not really.
hi MSJT, my face has only just begun to do this so cant say if it is PBC or one of my other medical conditions. i've been using e45 face cream which helps take the itch away for a bit. i did wonder if it was the rare sunshine days thats made my face sensitive 😂 so have also put sun sense over the face cream. it seems to help with stopping burning and itching but doesnt take away the redness. guess a non exsistent GP appointment may be due. i hope you find. an answer that helps 🙂
I switched to Cerave cleanser which I only use at night, just water in morning. My nighttime cream, also Cerave, is very Vaseline like and I use it over a thinner vitamin c moisturizer. Seems like it's helping but who knows. Drinking lots of water all day long and avoiding too much coffee and alcohol are probably the best bets. If the dryness is caused by a needed medication, it's trickier. In my case, I think it's mostly age with some PBC thrown in for good measure
I also struggle with dryness and find washing with a mild cleanser and only with water in the morning is the way to go as someone else mentioned. I use the Youth To The People moisture face mask at night and sometimes during the day as well as a moisturizer. My skin fluctuates depending on how much water and caffeine I drink, also how much sleep I’m getting (don’t know why but it makes a difference). When my skin is really dry I use the moisture mask every day but usually I use it at night (if I’m in an extremely humid environment-monsoon season- the it’s once a week).
I also get a Hydrafacial once a month (this helps a lot).
