Dry eyes
Hi Sillybilly, it could be Sjorgrens Syndrome it is known to occur in some people with PBC.
I am sure I read in a PBC related document somewhere that dry eyes is one of the symptoms that goes with PBC. I have dry eyes and currently use an Optrex dry eye formula. I have also used Systane but I suspect with contact lenses you may need a more specialist eye drop.
I also believe dry eyes are common in people with PBC. I get them and also I have a dry mouth, which in turn seems to be causing my teeth to decay at a faster rate than would be expected.
Hi SillyBilly
I have PBC and have dry eye problems also. Good advice to see an eye specialist. I wear piggyback contact lens in both eyes. I got plugs in when the problem got worse and this helped a lot. Also using lots of artelac eye drops and celluvisc drops. Both are the individual viles and good with contact lens. Not sjogerns although - kerataconus. Dx long before PBC. Best get an appointment with an Eye Specialist.
I have problems with my eyes and dry mouth. But I was diagnosed with blepharities a couple of months ago, a chronic inflammation of the eyelid. Since I had ignored it my cornea had been affected and my eyes hurt incredible. I still have to clean my eyes very csrefully and I will have to do that...for ever. My tears break too soon and eye specialist doesn't know why, can't explain it - it is just how it is. Quite common for people with autoimmune conditions to have problems with their eyes, he said. For about half no explanation could be found, according to him. Hope your eye problems can be cured!
Thank you all for your replays x
