Hi, I have been diagnosed with pbc and overactive thyroid within the same month. I know it's common to get under active thyroid with pbc but haven't seen overactive and pbc. Wondering if anyone also has this or knows any correlation?
Thanks Natasha

Good morning! here in the states anyway..... what I've read on liver disease and hypothyroid problems is fatty liver disease can sometimes be associated with this thyroid condition. Non alcoholic fatty liver disease is known as NAFLD. I hope someonesoe else has more experience with high functioning thyroid and can shed more light on it. This would be a good question to ask at the Thursday Q&A sessions with PBC experts. Are you familiar with those? On The PBC Foundation's Facebook page, these weekly sessions are all recorded so you can go back and watch any of them anytime. Let me know if you find some more information on this.
Hyperthyroidism, particularly Graves disease, can also be associated with other liver conditions. Up to 10% of patients with Graves disease have a coexisting autoimmune disorder. The association between Graves disease and primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) or autoimmune hepatitis is well described in the literature.
This is what I've found. I would encourage you to ask the expert on the Q&A sessions. Let us know what you find out.
Thankyou for the info, I will definitely try to join the QandA session. I also have 3 other autoimmune conditions, so maybe I am just collecting them lol.
