hi everyone,
My insurance stopped paying for Urso 300 capsules. They will pay for Urso 250 tablets. Does anyone know the difference? Do they work the same? I hate to change if what I am taking works. Thanks.

Over the years I’ve had both. I’ve never been aware of any difference, and have never suffered knowingly from any side affects from taking either.

Do you have a good pharmacist locally? They will probably be able to tell you if there are any differences. I suspect that the active ingredient remains the same.
Here in the UK I take capsules that are 250mg. I am usually given URSOFALK but some times the medication comes from other pharmaceutical companies. Make sure that your dosage is correct for your weight. There is a table to work out dose to weight in the Patient Information Leaflet that comes with the medicaiton but also there is a chart for ease of working out on the PBC Foundation web site.
I started off with the tablets, then switched to the capsules. I did not feel or experience any difference. I'm on 1000mg daily.
thank you
It's about the correct dosage for your weight so just make sure total mg you take per day is what doctor prescribed. Based on the comment, I assume you are in the US. It drives me crazy that insurance bean counters are the final decision makers on the medications patients get, but that particular rant is for another forum
I’ve always been on tablets. Fortunately for me doc prescribes 500 mg 2x day and I only need 750. So I get the full prescription but cut one in half. This saves me on costs. What fries me is how much they cost even with insurance. They’ve been generic for 30+ years.
