i am in my early 30s

No diagnosis other than PBC and the sweats just started the since 5 months ago once a day (before menstruation)

but this week it has been for a whole week , got my period

I am in my early 30s, no diagnosis other than Pbc

Any one know if it is something else? I googled and it literally says cancer or thyroid issues

Thyroid has been ok…

I Am not sick or have a fever

But all of a sudden past week I have been Sweating so much it has waken me up…

I am drenched in sweat .

I sleep in a cold room and have two blankets that are quite light.

Is this an Urso side effect? I could not see that as a side effect?

I had night sweats before I started taking Urso, and I still have them, although they are not as frequent or severe. I have been unable to establish a connection. Also, Mayo in Jacksonville offered three kinds of meds that might have helped with the sweats, but I couldn’t take them. Their “no stone unturned” exam did not prompt them to offer a cause for them.

Good luck!

Hi , I too have night sweats & have had them for many years with many nights waking up so cold because I was wet through like I'd had a shower & not dryed myself but mine started pre-menopause . When my periods stopped so did they ... unfortunately a year after my transplant they started again ... I will be 4 years post transplant in Nov this year but I just got told its post menopause now ! I was diagnosed with PBC over 12 years ago and only took URSO for about 3-4 years due to being none responsive so whether there is a connection to urso & hormone changes I have no idea but I will say when I first started with the night sweats I was repeatedly told I was too young to be going through the menopause because I was only 48 which we all now know is utter rubbish but it does give you food for thought to wonder if urso could be related to hormonal changes as the time line to me taking urso does coincide with the start of my night sweats although can't be related to them now due to not taking them for many years , but did they start the process in the first place ? I personally put my now night sweats down to my transplant & all the hormonal changes my body is still going through due to my new liver ... as we are all aware the liver does over 500 jobs & controlling our hormones is one of them which is the same for both men & woman . Maybe some type of study should be done to see if there is any relation to urso & hormones just a thought 🤔 and although you are very young to be going through the menopause it isn't unheard of but its more plausible that maybe there could be a link that urso could give early symptoms ... with regards to me & my age maybe I started with the symptoms of menopause before I should have due to urso ... something I doubt I will never know , but one thing I am sure of is PBC is unpredictable & new side effects are coming to light all the time and we all experience different ones or none at all depending on what stage we are at .I hope you find some answers , the sweating is not only inconvenient by breaking sleep it is also not very nice & extremely uncomfortable.

Best Wishes x

I wish there was a solution to the night sweats, I'm 74 and was diagnosed with PBC in 2004 ...for the last 10yrs at least I have been every year to the GP to ask about the terrible heat my body goes through every single night I have never had a straightforward answer its normally probably hormones GP says !!!!! If anyone can give me an a answer I would be very pleased ps. I take 4 tablet of Urso per day.

Shortly before I was first diagnosed with PBC I was having really extreme night sweats and sometimes in the day if I felt stress. At night I would wake up soaked. In the day in a flash I would go from dry to literally dripping perspiration. My accupuncturist gave me some Chinese herbs that helped a bit, then tried something different that didn’t work at all. We assumed it was perimenopause.

After I was diagnosed with PBC the accupuncturist told me liver diseases can cause night sweats and that’s probably why the second thing hadn’t worked. I totally agree PBC impacts hormones. Another more common symptom of PBC is irregular periods. Mine were all over the place, always unless I was on the pill.

The liver controls your body temperature , therefore some people are very cold and some are hot, also, have doc, to check you for diabetes.

or even rule out heart disease - my husband had severe night sweats with no other symptoms but ended up getting a quadruple bypass - cardiologist said nights sweat are a symptom.
