I’ve been on Yrso since 2019 and doing well on it. I also had 39 pelvic radiation treatments in 2016 for cancer. I know that radiation basically destroys your teeth. I’m wondering if urso leeches calcium from the body (I’ve also been diagnosed with osteoenia. Just curious. I’ve been losing a lot of teeth lately. And have 3 more that will have to go - then my dentist and I will focus on the good ones that remain. I’m also using Rx Prevident toothpaste.
Thank you for any insight!

Good Morning...I am so sorry you are going through this with your teeth. I have always been bothered with western medicines cures that are worse than the disease.
I do not use URSO, so cannot speak to that being the problem. I can however share my experience with radiation. I had Papillary thyroid cancer in 2011. Surgically removed along with parathyroid. Underwent a 3 day radioactive isotope treatment. I was ok until I wasn't.
The next year I developed 11 cavities. I'm the girl who has had 2 cavities in her life. You can image my surprise. Then...I started noticing teeth chipping, and excessive wear. And yes, I have always worn a night guard. Then vertical lines in my front "smile line" teeth.
They stated chipping and were on the way to breaking. My front 16 teeth need to be fixed. Fortunately I was financially able to get them taken care of. It's heart breaking that this happens to many people. It was explained to me that the radiation caused the saliva ph to be altered. Thank you modern medicine...Hope you get the answers you are searching for. Be well
Hi I have been on Ursodiol for six years. I’ve always had wonderful teeth until I started this medication. I have lost more than half of my teeth. I’ve had them replaced of course. But it’s been an awful ordeal . My dentist thinks it does have something to do with the medication.
I hope this helps. And sorry you were dealing with teeth issues as well.
Couple of things: dry mouth is common with PBC. There can be crossover AI with Sjogren’s or as someone noted Sjogren’s “light”. Dry eyes as well. Dry mouth can cause bad teeth, bad breath, etc. I had to have 2 teeth pulled in the 13 years I have had PBC diagnosis. I use an alkaline rinse now. There are other OTC products to keep mouth less dry. I would discuss both these issues with your PBC doctor and your dentist. You can also be tested to see if you have full overlap Sjogren’s.
I have been on URSODIOL for six years. During that six years I have lost seven teeth. I do attribute it to the Ursodiol. Because I never had teeth problems prior to taking it. My dentist agrees. We have no solutions. Just trying to keep up and replace the teeth that I’ve been lost
