Trigeminal Neuralgia
You can ask the pharmacist whether the meds you take for the other condition have any adverse effects on the liver. They are usually knowledgeable about the various meds and interactions. Every time I pick up my meds, the pharmacist usually asks me if I have any questions about the meds.
Not sure where you are located but in the US, patients can get all the details of any test/labs performed. It is our right. Additionally you can request copies of any scans you do like sonograms burned to a CD.
In the past before medical records went digital, my hepatologist mails me a copy of everything. Nowadays they have patient portals and every single result is there as well as the doctor’s visit summary notes. I just log on and download everything. Anything not there, my hep just sends me a hard copy.
It is good practice to have your medical records in case you are seeing new doctors as that is much quicker than trying to get the records sent to them.
Your are entitled to a copy of your blood tests, I am sure Collette recently mentioned it on one of the Thursday afternoon presentations with one of the Profs. Phone your specialist's secretary and ask for a copy to be sent to you. I think you are in Scotland you could call the Foundation to see if they can recommend a hepatologist nearer to you.
Hi Jaycee, I have had trigeminal neuralgia going on 2 years now. I take gabapentin and Amitriptyline. I made sure both docs (neuro and Hep) knew about the meds. I have since had my semiannual U/S and there appear to be no changes from what I read. (Doc hasnt put her formal note on results yet so likely no concerns).
