Hi GlodsworthyhelenAs far as everything I have read , yes we can get it . I’m classed as clinically extremely vulnerable because I take immune suppressants and will still get it . I don’t know if it’s as affective when immune system suppressed ,only time will tell, but better to have some protection than none x

Hi , I've had a transplant & as well as PBC have other autoimmune diseases and we have been given the green light , if you look at it like the flu & pneumonia jab it is so our immune system will recognise the virus & protect & fight against that virus only , I am immunosuppressant & was sceptical & scared due to my transplant , , I am under St James Liver unit/ consultants and they saved my life they wouldn't put it at risk now , I had many questions & fears one obviously being if it boost our immune system won't that in turn allow my immune system to attack my new Liver ? It was an out & out NO my immune system will only recognise the virus as a foreign body not my liver ! It is not a live vaccine . Hope that helps x

I did and I'm here to talk about it. On paper, I should not have survived but everyone is different and it's completely unpredictable. I caught it early, in March before they were telling us to wear masks because I would have done so. I had severely limited where I went and was washing my hands like crazy. Kept alcohol wipes and hand sanitizer in my car. I have no idea who I got it from. I spent 10 days in the hospital with supplemental oxygen but not on a respirator. Most of the questions I asked in the hospital were answered with a shrug and " we don't know yet." I was 70 at the time, being successfully treated for PBC, high blood pressure, mild asthma, type II diabetes, obesity. As I said, I knew I was a bad candidate. The thing is, that careful balance that I had going on is completely off balance now and I can't seem to find a new balance. I see my daughter and grandsons because they' re mostly at home, schooling in the basement and then all I do is go to doctor appointments. I 'm so tired of it. In September I had to be hospitalized again because I was retaining so much fluid that it was causing congestive heart failure. They really think that I had microclots in my lungs but they never actually saw them on a CT scan. I was a week on diuretics and blood thinners. Now I'm retaining fluid again so it's very discouraging. If I take too many diuretics, my kidney function tests show that they're in distress. If I cut back on the diuretics, I start gaining a pound a day, not from eating. I'm in the middle of this now and the cardiologist and kidney specialist (never had one before) are working together to try to find the right combination and keep me out of the hospital. I know this was very long but I tell this to anyone who will listen because when they talk about percentage of death rates, they're not taking into consideration everyone who survives but their lives are changed. There is no predicting how anyone will react to the virus. The only way to avoid this is to NOT GET IT. Learn this yourself. Tell your friends. Get the vaccine and wear a mask. That's all we have right now.

Hi Goldsworthyhelen, except for the bronchiectasis (?), I’m very familiar with the others! The Hepatology clinic I attend, has given the green light to get the vaccine. Jan 7 I got the first shot of the Moderna vaccine, with #2 shot due on day 28. About 10 minutes after the shot (painless), I felt a tiny bit light headed & was wondering if I was going to faint, the feeling passed after 10 or so minutes, it was an odd feeling, like ‘spacey’, I didn’t need medical attention, tho I did tell the nurses. It may have been nerves (Jan 6 very upsetting day), I think I will have someone come with me for the second shot. Btw, I’m 65–was a bit daunting when the 75- 80 year olds were skipping out of the room past me.....Good luck to us all!
