Does anyone take bio identical hormones? What is the relationship of estrogen and PBC. Is it ok to take them if you have PBC?

Hi tootootI started on hrt just over a month ago, I have pbc/aih overlap and the decision was made that the patches were best and since I get my bloods checked regularly, they can keep an eye my lfts.

I have been on the HRT patch for yesrs with no problem, safer for us as it doesn't go through the liver.

I’ve been taking BHRT for about 4 years. Having consulted with my liver specialist I take in the creams that I rub in am and pm to my wrists. No adverse results to date.

Morning.... I've been on HRT for about 7 years now. I was started on the creams which have their own set of problems with dosing and absorption, was then on the patches, but patches are synthetic hormones and seem to fall off all the time, plus are rather pricey. For a brief time I was switched to an oral tablet as my night cold sweats were horrible. Got off those within 7 months and onto my current regime. Been happy with this formula for about 3 years. I went to a Naturopathic doctor who drew labs and consulted the wizard of a compounding pharmacist. I use a vaginal cream for estriol because it is suppose to be the best method of absorption. I take a TROCHE for my bio-test, testosterone, progesterone, and DHEA. Does it effect my liver? Well, this combo is certainly easier on my liver than the synthetics. My lab work seems to be about the same and my scans are good. All I know is that without them there would be no fun in hooville! Be well

Awesome. I was on bio identical for about 10 years then when I got diagnosed I was told to go off them. I abstained for a year but I was miserable. I went back on a year ago.

I took them for ten years - a pill that came from a compound pharmacy in Colorado. My gyn oncologist suggested them to me as safe for me to take after a complete hysterectomy for ovarian cancer, stage I. They were sweet little pills that dissolved under my tongue. She said they weren't particularly strong and might not help me enough - but they did. When I eventually went back to a different GYN after ten years, that doctor wanted me to get off hormones completely at that point and I was able to do it at that point. I had not been diagnosed with PBC yet but might have had it. I probably will never know. But those little pills worked like a charm. I had tried ... whatever the most popular drug (pills) were at the time and they were too strong for me. Gave me raging headaches. I knew I couldn't survive without some kind of hormonal help and the bio-identical pills made me feel like I was doing less damage to my body - if at all.
