Nifedipine and PBC

I have Secondary Raynauds and have been prescribed Nifedipine but in the information I have read this is said to be damaging to the liver. since I have PBC should I take tis medication?

I have raynauds as well as schleroderma. My rheumatologist doesn’t want me taking drugs for these unless he feels absolutely necessary. I personally feel that is something you need to discuss further with your dr. We as a support group can’t give you advice on drugs.

I suppose I am a bit too obedient to those in the medical profession! I just needed to feel empowered to question the prescription. Thanks gwillis.

I understand. I always question my drugs. We should have a clear understanding from those in the medical field who have our health in their hands. They should be more than happy to provide information you ask for. 😊

I usually remind the doctor prescribing the meds about the pbc to make sure they didn't forget. Or if I really was concerned, I tell them I need confirmation from my hepatologist. I don't care they are doctors, I have a right to raise concerns. You should feel empowered!!!

Hi Marysla,So sorry to learn you have CREST. I have an advanced form of Raynauds - the effected fingers do not return to normal. All best wishes.
