Hi jaws58 can you tell us what GCA is and how long do you have to wait for the consultant. Is GCA another auto immune disease? Auto immune disease do seems to like to keep each other company :-)

I believe GCA is Giant Cell Arteritis

I have had red mottled palms for 15 years l was diagnosed with lupus and sjogrens. My consultant a professor in London told me that my mottled palms were related to my lupus apparently you can get it if through a number of autoimmune diseases. Last year l was diagnosed with PBC my lfts were only slightly raised and only had been for 2 years, I’m now thinking l May have had PBC and not lupus but my lfts never showed abnormalities until 15 years later

You dont t say if you have PBC and there are many reasons for red palms, you really need proper evaluation from your doctors. If your seeing a consultant soon I’d mention it to them.

For me personally, I have had red mottled palms, first noticed and ignored by the GP, when I began having such awful menopausal symptoms at 51 and I’d gone to get HRT. I was itching at the time too, all ignored at that time, but the itching went away on HRT so I took no more notice of it.

Five years later: A raised ALP, thought to be caused at the time by glandular fever. When it never settled, I was referred for further tests.

The first consultant I saw who ran the tests for Autoimmune liver disease, was the only doctor ever to mention it again, he took hold of my hands and said “oh youve got red palms”. I was diagnosed with pbc three months later at the age of 56.

Hi jaws58, I had red, mottled, hot hands. Drove me crazy for a couple of years. I eventually seen the doctor and after blood tests, was diagnosed with PBC. I later discovered the red, burning hand were symptomatic of a liver problem.

What is GCA? I have issues with my fingers and my hands peel and are very dry despite creams and moisturizer.

This must be awful to deal with. I was reading about fungal infections of the skin and how hands and fingers can be affected. They recommend using tea tree oil on the skin. It can be diluted in your creams or used straight. They also sid that if the skin is affected, there is a good chance that the, guess what, liver could be overloaded. A candida diet and good probiotics might be rather beneficial for you too. Be well.

Zims crack cream - original liquid formula is the best for cracked, dry hands. It's hard to find but nothing compares.

As much as a recommendation is appreciated, I must say the ingredients are quite suspect. Methyl paragon is associated with Breast Cancer, infertility in males, ages skin and is an environmental toxin. The other one that disturbs me is Iodopropynyl Butylcarbonate. It is a known liver toxin, and probably and ends disruptor also.

Just passing information along. Be well.

I'm sorry I don't see Methyl paragon or Iodopropynyl listed as ingredients for this product. (Ingredients: Glycerine, SD alcohol 3-C, purified water, arnica extract, and myrcia oil.) Where did you get this information?

Regards.

I googled the product and on Amazon and Vitacost. The only version I found showed the ingredients in detail. Maybe I am seeing a different version of the product than you are referring to. If that is the case, please accept my humble apology for mis information.

There was a typo in the first post due to auto correct? It's paraben, not paragon

Good morning...Well this sounds terrible. I'm wondering...were you taking the steroids before or after the red hand issues? Might be the steroids?? I was reading about GCA and it has many symptoms, but does not discuss the hand issue you seem to be experiencing. Of course, who knows, right? The other symptoms don't sound like fun either. So, I of course had to google autoimmune disease and red hands..bingo. Lots of stuff came up, but didn't find PBC listed. Again, this means nothing as PBC related issues are infrequently listed. My wish for you today is that you can find some relief and peace. Since my PBC I have developed DSAP...lovely dark spots on areas where i have received sun in my lifetime. Although they resemble the spots from sun exposure, they will come back if treated. I feel like I could play connect the dots to find interesting pictures on my body!

Take good care and let us know how this all shakes out. Be well
