New Symptom or Cold?

AutoimmunetoStars profile image

Has anyone ever had joint problems when activity flares? Currently, I'm starting to have joint pain, especially in the knees that usually disappears at night. I'm starting to worry that it might be connected, as I had joint problems when I had ulcerative colitis flares, but they started coming back even with my colon gone.

This on top of my stomach pain and increased fatigue, I'm starting to worry if its connected.

You should have your vitamin D checked. It is common in PBC to have a low vitamin D. This can certainly cause serious joint plain. My GI puts me in 50,000 units once weekly to keep my vitamin D where it should be. But, of course run it by your specialist before going to the store for over-the-counter vitamins. They will not help.

Hope I've helped you a little.

Stay Strong❣️

I am sorry you are feeling worried. That's what I do when a new discomfort comes. I agree with Shulsey, ask your GP to test your active vit D levels and treat them how suits you. (some cant absorb vitamin D through gut).

Also, you say "stomach pain" and it would be good to ask your GP to investigate the cause. Have you seen PBC Foundation website where they advise and inform how we can speak to our medics? It really helps to ask a relevant question rather than just describe symptoms we are having, because these may not get an answer.

Or you can phone direct to PBC Foundation and they will listen to you and talk you through how you could move forward with your questions. Taking action to make a plan and following it will interupt the worry and that itself will help you. Very best wishes...

Yi might call the foundation then. It's not really confirmed if I do have PBC, it's /something/ in the liver. (Its always inflamed and the GGT is elevated. Alk phos isn't. IGG is) But there might be damage to the small ducts, too. I do have AMAs, at least positive once, but apparently I just produce AMA. Negative after the positive result.

So its essentially a toss up between AH, PSC, and PBC. (PSC because I have IBD, AH because of the biologics, or PBC because of the bile ducts)
