So on Tuesday this week I have my liver biopsy I am worried that something will go wrong but most of all the results.
My consultant Has said that he thinks I have a autoimmune overlap syndrome that is running alongside my Pbc. I work as a night team lead and I love my job and need my job as I am the breadwinner In the House I do hope that I can still keep working and it does not affect my job. At the moment I have no symptoms and never have had with my PBC the only reason I knew I had this was just a routine blood test I’ve had my PBC since 2015 and I have pretty much lead a normal life as I did before and I want to continue with this. I had just got my head around having PBC now I have another one to get my head around. I have read that they put you on steroids to help to support your immune system what worries me is the weight gain I find it hard enough to lose weight and to keep it off due to my under active thyroid right I try to eat healthy but sometimes I slip off the wagon with that then get myself back on again I go to the gym three times a week unless of work commitments I also have my family to look after and I love my hubby which is my three horses all I want to do is keep my fingers crossed they can help me and I can continue to lead my life I want to Live a long life thank you all for looking and reading my post

I have PBC/AIH overlap syndrome and have been on high doses of steroids for 10 months now. My numbers rise when they wean me off the Prednisone. I have the moon face and barrel shape torse but otherwise feel good. I work full time in a school and have an adult daughter with Autism/nonverbal, behavior and sensory problems. Life is pretty good though with all that being said. I actually have lost weight with eating healthy, drinking tons of water and getting over 14,ooo steps a day on my fitbit. Prednisone was causing me to have blurred vision and high risk of Diabetes. I am now on the steroid Budesonide. Numbers are slightly elevated but my body needed a break from Prednisone. I still have sleep problems, blurred vision and night sweats but feel less "edgy" on it. It also goes directly to the liver to work. Try not to worry too much. You have a busy life and I think with medicine you will continue to be just as busy. I am on an autoimmune suppressant and to me that is a bigger concern right now. Germs everywhere in a large school.
My motto now is don't worry till I have to worry. All the best. By the way- like you I was only diagnosed by blood work. No symptoms. Tough chicks, eh? lol
Hi, i too have overlap and i stressed about it. But like everything else you get used to it and life goes on. I had a few side effects in the beginning with prednisolone but overall it was fine and like kimhoebe said bags of energy, i felt great! I was weaned off in July and numbers went back up so now on round 2 but this time its budesonide and azathiprine long term. No side effects this time at all.
