I've been taking ursodiol for week and 2 days. Was given to prevent gallstones. After bariatric weight loss surgery, the rash and itching especially on the hands I can't deal with, will it hurt to stop it?

Hello Donna.

Welcome.

Can i just ask, were you diagnosed with PBC?

Or is gall stone prevention the only reason you are on urso?

Hi Donna,

I agree with LindyRich. Before we can really comment and (hopefully) help, I think we need some more information: such as: what was going wrong for you to be checked and tested in the first place, as well as what tests were done, what the results were, and what the Medics have said so far?

If you have PBC, then you would - hopefully - have seen a liver consultant, had lots of blood tests, an ultrasound, and a full discussion about your results, symptoms, your general health and any other conditions, as well as a check on your family history (there is often a family disposition to autoimmune conditions in people with PBC).

If it is just the gallstones, I am not familiar with Urso being used to treat them. So, you might want to talk to the advisors at the 'PBC Foundation' (link to their website at the top of the page, with phone & email details to contact the advisors); or, maybe search on the general 'Health Unlocked' site for a link to the 'British Liver Trust', as their wider knowledge of liver issues may be of more help.

Sorry I can't help more, take care.
