Have a question for anyone that knows...are there any specific vitamins we should stay away from since we have PBC? Living in the U.S and I know the FDA doesn't regulate all of them. I don't want to take anything new that could be more harmful to my liver.

Vitamins
Hello Cstar1079.
My philosophy here is that unless it is thought certain ones are needed as in been advised then I cannot see the point in taking them. My concern about supplements and even medications is the additional chemicals the make up the tablets, liquid, etc to enable us to take them. Our system has to deal with the fillers in tablets for eg and to be honest some don't sound that nice.
Hi Cstar,
Doesn't hurt to be cautious. Ask your doctor first as they will know exactly where you're at medically and what you might or might not need. If you can, get them to check your vitamin and mineral levels and then it will be clear.
There are some vitamins where taking too much can be very harmful indeed, especially if they cannot be excreted from the body. If you have a broad healthy diet and then taking extra vitamins could become an excess very easily.
Apart from the risk of taking too much of a particular vitamin, taking anything that is unnecessary, is causing more work for your liver and kidneys too.
