I am having a diagnostic laparoscopy for an enlarged ovary tomorrow, I'm also having an D& C. I've heard there is a bleeding risk with a D&C.
Has anyone here with PBC had a D&C. Did you do ok with it? They took my PT today. It will be read before my surgery. My surgery is at 1030 am US EST tomorrow. A quick response would be helpful. Thanks

Yes I have had one since diagnosed with PBC. I had no problems what so ever, it was fine. I have problems with cysts and anemia and I had an enlarged uterus, the lining of the uterus was too thick. I just wish someone would be interested in taking a look at all of my health issues. I am quite certain they are connected, but gastro and gyn consultants are not interested - they want to do their bits...
I hope you are doing fine and that everything went well!
I had a D&C, because of my uterus being enlarged too and the heavy periods caused me to be anemic as well. I opted for the endometrial ablation and a tubal and when they went in with the laprascope is when they found Endometriosis and they said the lining of my uterus was thick so they believed the Endo was in that too, hence a Dx of Adenomyosis. Have you had a laprascopy? Your situation sounds like mine. I think Endo is autoimmune too and you may be on to something if you are found to have it. The Endocrine Dr. mentioned that I might also have PCOS which from what I've read can cause thickening of the lining of the uterus too along with ovarian cysts. Did they say what had caused your uterus to be enlarged? In my opinion the D&C made my periods 10x worse and because of the Adeno the ablation was not a good choice for me. I wished that I had had the hysterectomy done instead and will probably end up getting one done within a yr or two anyway.
Thanks everyone. I am heading to the hospital in about an hour. I am having the D&C, having my left ovary removed due to its increased size and a family history of ovarian cancer, and having a fibroid removed as well. I know I will be in pain, but just checking about the bleeding risk. I suppose when I get to the hospital I will know the results from the blood tests. If they see a bad bleeding risk, they will take appropriate precautions.
My surgery was a lot longer than anticipated because my fibroid had adhered to my peritoneum. I was supposed to have just the little laparascope scars, now I have a 5 inch bikini scar. They still let me know go home the same day. I'm bleeding about like a period, but not even that much. All went pretty well. Still on lots of pain meds though. Thanks for your replies
