I'm wondering if anyone else has an elevated d-dimer? Mine is over 2500 now, cardiac tests and ultrasound are all negative. My Gastro Dr is stumped and has given up, my general physician has googled and found some correlation, but still no real answers.

D-dimer
Never heard of d-dimer before but here's a link to a site that might help a little:
All I know is you have a very high number number..make sure you do don't have clots in your blood !
Good luck
How old are you?
54
That is very good. when is your next d.dimer test again and do you go to pulmonarist? As you get older your d dimer goes high but not that high..
remember d dimer is not 100% specific test for clothing factor.. it can go up due to other reasons as well I'm sure your dr have already explained to you so do not panic just keep follow your dr till it resolves!
I have been evaluated by a Cardiologist, who found nothing. I believe my next blood test is in September, it's pretty scary that they are not finding the reason.
Hi Jaksgirl, I'm sure they repeated it right? I am familiar with what a d diner is but never heard of it with pbc.... unless for awhile you may have had a increased ptt so formed tiny clots giving you s raised dcdimer and also have never seen one that high unless u guys use different numbers. In the U.K.?
I'm actually in the Finger Lakes of New York. Every time they run it it's increased, it's been elevated since last February, just keeps going up.
I just read it can go up in liver diseases as well so it might be due to pbc as well.. just be extra caution and always carry baby aspirin with you ok
I do, it's very concerning (I've worked as a phlebotomist for 28 yrs and my coworkers are very on edge about it, lol), but I've been triple checked by Drs with no answers. I'm staying safe and carrying aspirin, although not advised for liver, it could save my life.
That's coola. It's been very helpful being familiar with the lab side of this and being able to undestand the terms. I'm still overwhelmed with some of the disease. The liver spasms are very uncomfortable, itching (even with meds) is crazy and the bloated (swollen) liver makes it hard to be comfortable. Honestly a year ago I took it very hard, now I'm learning more and living happy.
Lol, yep, hot bodies
I too have elevated d-dimer! They told me an autoimmune disease can throw other numbers way off. I do take baby aspirin just in case but only every other day.
Donna, yay, there is at least one other person, sorry it had to be you though. I was starting to believe I might just be a unicorn, lol. It makes me more comfortable when I know it happens to others, that sounds pretty horrible, sorry.
Yes, they freaked out about it but also said autoimmunes are tricky when it comes to certain blood work. I had a CT scan with the dye (the one that makes your whole body warm) and they found NOTHING!
Thanks, let me know
