Thank you for your help with thoughts as to rise in ferritin recently. My iron panel has worked, it was a fingerprick test so unsure as to accuracy? But results as followsIRON 17.5(10-30)
TIBC 51.7(45-81)
UIBC 34.2(14-56)
TRANSF SAT 33.8 (25-45)
FERRITIN 59.9 (23-)
Just to recap ferritin was
End March 48
Mid June 37 (8wks aft l.dose)
End July 85
Wk later 110
Wk later 59.9
Crp consistently low throughout.
I'm aiming to get to 100ish, have Three Arrows ready but obv concerned when it shot up.
Only diff was 110 was just before period, 59.9.just after, but wouldn't assume it cldve made that much of a difference?
Any thoughts on safe to supplement wld be appreciated. In past when ferritin is this level its shown in other areas of iron panel i need to take iron, but this time, not so sure?Tried asking Dr,but they're never partic interested in ferritin.
Thank you...

Hi Nackapan...thanks for your help.Always appreciated. Yes, like you, I aim to keep ferritin higher than Drs advise, 15 is fine & dandy by them!
Hard to.work out what's ferritin related symptoms or b12 .
60 looks more realistic than last couple wks results of 85 & 110, though hard to know how often to check.
Looking bk to 1st loading dose I had it coincidentally did similar. Was 25, jumped up.to high 80's aft couple months, few wks later bk down to 26!
Gasping for breath in night def eased, just had period, bit lighter and wasnt bad in nights with pounding heart & feeling faint, so a welcome relief
Do have more energy than before loading doses, but because I'd got so bad near crawlingbaround,, am very grateful for this much improvement, but can see am still lacking a fair bit!
You start things, but the power & strength just don't seem to show up! Wake up tired, try to pace, ready for bed far too early still breathless after trying t.a bit more, seems to take a long while to ease.
Yes, have appt gp couple wks so will.share, but he sort of left iron stores to me!
I'm more than willing to start Three Arrows, but concerned with the iron profile results now,abt overdoing it. I've been getting some thyroid advise too & someone kindly suggested although my iron is lower in range, the other parts indicate a lack of capacity. All confusing to work out isnt it
You obv struggle to keep yours up, is that high enough to keep yr symptoms at bay-hope so! Many thanks...
With your symptoms, which I had, I would suggest you take a well absorbed heme iron. Ferritin indicates the level of your iron stores and its availability to your cells.
Glad that part got sorted quickly at least, but sounds like you have to take plenty to keep.it that way!
Yes, I've always taken the ferrous fumarate 210. A nurse prac took interest in my iron once and advised taking itv3 times a day when ferritin was 11, prior to b12 diagnosis. So that's the one I've always taken although a few yrs bk it did seem to aggravate stomach so I tried the Solhar, but my levels didn't shift much. May have just been general absorption at time though, whatever I trued maybe.
I'd been taking the ferrous fumarate these last few wks like you, I tried every other day & seemed to tolerate it better that way. That's why it's seemed odd ferritin jumping up so high on small dose, but it was obviously a blip somewhere. Guess if the iron profile is temporarily showing an incapacity for iron, perhaps that's why the ferritin rose quickly.
Thank you, yes I've got three arrows at the ready. Just concerned as a kind person helping with thyroid has now worked out although my iron is below optimum, the Tibc and transferrin sat are saying I've not got capacity for it, so am concerned that's maybe why ferritin shot up quickly recently and now by stopping taking iron for 3 wks for test, ferritin is lowering again? Know it can dangerous to overload...?
