Hello all. I use Methylcobalamin and was wondering if the place I buy mine from goes out of business, what I would do. I've tried finding a backup or two, but so far the place I buy from is $55.00 for a vial (10 shots/vial). I mean I have no reason to think they will go out of business, but with things the way they are now in the world, who knows? There are quite a number of businesses going bankrupt all the time, so just in case, you know. Not sure what is happening in this crazy world right now. It took me over 6 months to find my source for B12. As you all know, people could survive with low food or living means, but without VitB12 injectables, we PA people would die off in no time. I know maybe I'm exhibiting a little fear of no B12 resource, but my insurance for example will only pay for my B12 if I buy it from an in-network provider. So far all the in-network providers I've checked on only sell Cyanocobalamin and it's usually quite high and it's even more difficult to find any injectable B12 (they think I can just take pills or eat a pork chop). I could use the Cyano if I had to, but even it is often quite expensive. Do most of you in England get your B12 from in country or do you order elsewhere? I've read that the U.S. has stopped importing of Vit B12 into the country, so I can't buy from outside the U.S. Thanks everyone, MJat.
What is supplies run out?: Hello all. I... - Pernicious Anaemi...
What is supplies run out?
where do you live? I have a pharmacy that supplies me with B12 vials. Just not sure if you are near me. RSM, California!
Tennessee. Thanks for responding. I'd appreciate any suggestions or places to purchase methylcobalamin. MJat.
Mr Justatip
Your fears are completely warranted especially with the way things are today, and I share them but more from a disrupted supply chain. I have the same issues with insurance as I SI inject Methyl weekly. Seems insurance will only pay for in-office injections and only cyano and only once monthly. I'm in California and get my preloaded Methyl SC syringes from Hopewell Pharmacy in New Jersey, a compounding pharmacy. BUT because of possible supply chain issues you may consider, as I have done, purchasing a powder form of Methyl from from either Israel or Oxford Bioscience in England. Just mix with pharmacy grade saline to inject. I rotate these every six months just as my own insurance. It will not solve for a long term supply disruption but will insure against a hiccup or short term issue.
I'd be interesting to hear others thoughts/suggestions on this?

Just for your information - That Israeli company that supplies Methylcobalamin powder ( I’m away from home at the moment and can’t across my notebook with its information) gets it supplies from Oxford Biosciences and sells it on for about 3 times the cost at which you can obtain it from Oxford Biosciences!
Ahhh, thank you wedgewood. That's great information! I ordered my first time from that Israeli company "perniciousanemia.org". Then I switched to Oxford Biosciences. Btw I've not used either yet. I'm sort of lazy and really like my preloaded SC syringes 😊
I just keep a vile on hand as a backup as it has a much longer shelf life.

In England /uk if you are prescribed b12 it will be provided by your gp - free of charge via the NHS or privately - paid or with health insurance. No one can buy their own b12 without a prescription so anyone without a diagnosis of deficiency or who needs more than is allowed (3 monthly is not unusual) has to buy from mainland Europe. Typically Germany or over the counter in countries such as France or Spain. So availability is an issue here too.
I’m from the UK and order from Germany and Oxford Bioscience
I saw someone else from the US mentioning getting B12 from Canada. I buy cyanocobalamin in BC with no prescription. The price is about $6 Canadian (about $4.50 USD) for 10 doses (not including the needles).
