A few weeks ago, I posted concern over hubby's bloods when GP said all was fine.
To cut a long, and sadly not unfamiliar story to you short, I managed to get him to see a private consultant who identified at least 3 other long term health niggles associated with B12D. Hubby is now on SI treatment for next year with folate supplementation.
The Consultant also took bloods to rule out other potential causes of B12D other than the Lanzoprazole he has been on for the last 5 years. The bloods have shown positive for Thy. Peroxidase abs 188.86 ( <50 is negative) which shows he has auto-immune disease.
The Consultant gave me this link btf-thyroid.org/thyroid-ant... which has me completely lost as I don't know where to start my learning.
So my wonderful friends, before I launch into another unfamiliar world of the Thyroid UK Group, can anyone on here, give me a plain English guide as to what this is about?
Thank you in advance

Very simply, it indicates an autoimmune attack on the thyroid gland, eventually destroying the gland and rendering the person hypothyroid. This means the person will likely need to take thyroid hormones to replace the hormones they lack, in the form of levothyroxine (T4) and/or liothyronine (T3).
The thyroiduk forum is full of wonderful knowledgeable people, and I feel at home there as much as here They will likely recommend private testing, if the GP hasn't done all the necessary tests. TSH, FT4, FT3. And of course nutrients.
Thank you, this is such a shock for poor hubby as he has only self injected twice and already hates it! He thought it was just for a year ... we are now injection buddies - true love after all!π₯°π₯°
