Tristan Blevins is a qualified and practising Nutritionist, Sport and Holistic Therapist with a focus on treating the body through natural means. Working primarily with the Pre-Diabetic community, aiding the reversal and remission of Pre-Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes through nutritional interventions. My focus is around ensuring that the body is effectively nourished and not living in lack, and to provide effective and natural methods of healing the body.
I work using the principle of ‘eat right, feel right’ and recognise that often the most simple answers can hold the most value. If the diet is not providing us with the optimum nutrition we need, then how could we expect to feel our best?
On 14th October I will be discussing the remission and reversal of lifestyle related disease via nutritional intervention, diabetes and the effects of metformin (glucose lowering medications) on the body along with a short review on statin usage and side effects in relation to Type 2 diabetes, B12 absorption/ deficiency and simple natural means towards a healthier life. Using natural methods such as intermittent fasting, ensuring electrolyte balance is met in the body and busting the myths that fats are killing us. I will also be taking a dive into the real reason for the epidemic of obesity, diabetes, and multiple other diet and lifestyle related disorders.
Intermittent fasting was a hot topic in nutrition and wellness some years ago but we now know that the benefit is due to lower overall caloric intake. You can basically achieve the same results by just eating less calories throughout the day. Although it can work, it won't be suitable for many, especially if you need to work/focus during the day but struggle because you're fasting for a long stretch and your physical and mental energy is so low.
The idea that everyone can avoid statins as long as they follow an excellent diet and lifestyle is a nice idea but it won't be the case for certain situations such as severe familial hypercholesterolemia and other lipid disorders. Lifestyle and Nutrition are huge and important levers to pull but they're won't be the answer for everyone.
As for "busting the myths that fats are killing us" this sounds like a strawman, who is saying that "fats" (all fats?) are "killing us"?
I suspect he's alluding to the well-established fact that trans fats and many saturated fats, when consumed in excess, tend to raise LDL Cholesterol and ApoB, which, when elevated, cause atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Electrolyte balance is not something to worry about unless you're deliberately eating a terrible diet which causes you to have to consider those things. In which case it's better to improve your diet. Athletes in extreme endurance or performance scenarios would also need to consider electrolytes but I doubt they are his target audience here.
Thank you, at last someone that knows the truth, trying his best to inform us, without offending those who are...Well easily offended and stuck in the misinformed past.
