this week after a visit to the ED and changed symptoms related to my spine degenerative disease, I saw a different doctor at the practice, as she was going through my history, she asked about my B12 and It’s diagnosis, including the hospital discharge saying I did it EOD.
I explained I had been diagnosed with no intrinsic factor so did it EOD. She new b vitamins can be toxic if taken to excess but didn’t know much about b12. And was happy when I explained it to her, including the fact my other specialists had approved it.
So it’s now down on my medical records that I have b12 every other day. I won’t get prescribed it, but it’s cheaper over the counter anyway here in Australia.
It will also mean if I travel abroad, I can take a copy of my medication required. And my b12 ampules. To show customs or a doctor if I needed more.
I would love to go back to Scotland and show my old GP what they had failed to diagnose, for over 12 years!
She also said she encourages her patients to self inject their longterm medications when practicable.

Wow that's pretty incredible actions by your medical team! That's a huge battle you just won! Congratulations! That must be a huge relief. And it's wonderful that they're listening to you and asking you questions and helping their other patients because of it. Good job!!!
They are a fantastic practice, my usual doctor has been amazing, this past week . Helping me deal with my latest issues, that has arisen from my longterm PA. I’m now booked in for a laminectomy on my C-spine, caused by severe degenerative disease.
Well that sounds really promising Scott Rock. That's wonderful that you're getting treatment and that somebody is respecting you and your issue and actually doing something about it. So do you have subacute combined degeneration? I sure hope you're laminectomy works. I have severe degenerative disc disease. Just about every vertebrae has something wrong with it but they keep saying it's not enough to be causing the problems that I have. Problems like temporary paralysis in my left leg crawling on my hands and knees unable to walk excruciating pain 24 hours a day. But they say there's nothing they can do. And nobody has checked for subacute combined a generation. I really feel that's what's wrong. I don't know how to get them to find it. I don't even know how they do find it. Anyway I'm so glad that it's all working out for you that's very promising. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery. Take care let us know how it works.
my neurologist did a c-spine MRI and the hospital did the thoracic and lumber spine MRI. Both lumber and C-spine have all vertebrae involved, either stenosis or degeneration , bulging discs, C5-6 there is indentation of the cord, my nerve roots at L5 S1 are compressed L1T12 the cord is in contact with the collapsed disc. And the foramina have severe issues.
I'm really sorry to hear that Scott. What are their plans? Do they think you need surgery? I think my biggest goal is to get my spine tested like you did.
That sounds like a plan. I sure hope that it makes a difference and works so that they can do the lumbar too. Sounds very promising. It's really great that you have a doctor who actually is listening to you and doing something to help you. Good luck with everything. Let us know how it works.
