I'm sorry you've had a UTI and hope you get well again soon. It does seem to be a "thing" of B12 deficiency so make sure you drink at least 1.5 to 2 litres (2 and a half to 3 and a half pints) of liquid per day (tea, coffee, squash, soup, water, juice - everything non alcoholic counts) and ideally more, especially if its hot. If you worry about peeing all the time the secret is to take lots of small sips throughout the day, rather than a glass (or whatever) full at once and be aware of things that are diuretic for you (for me it's coffee and citrus - but with healing, over time, I can tolerate these slightly more too).
I wonder why you decreased your B12 jab frequency? As you say, it's best to go on symptoms rather than figures and I'd suggest that as those B12 figures aren't off the scale (usually above 2000), I'd say there's room for more as most of us who jab to keep symptoms at bay are usually way off the testing scale.
Be aware that if you have been supplementing with the co-factors at a high rate to get you up to those excellent figures it might mean that having got there you can back off slightly to maintain those levels now, rather than continuing to increase ever more.
Well done so far and I hope you feel the benefits soon!
Thanks deniseinmilden for your reply, yes I must admit I am a bit worried about going to once a month injections as would hate to go backwards again! and yes have definitely tried to up my fluid intake after the UTIs I didn’t realise this was possibly to do with the B12 deficiency! When you say back off with the Co factors what would you suggest I cut down , and what to? Thks
Thank you for your reply. It's hard to give recommendations just reduce things a bit - maybe lower dose tablets or less per day or miss one every few days or something like that - and see what your next test results come back like. If they are up then it will give you an idea that you can back off further, if down then you can reintroduce a bit more.
You seem to have quite a good handle on things so I think it's OK to trust yourself. If you cut something back and feel worse then put it back up and feel better it will give you the solution!
5mg folate is a dosage used to treat a deficiency - it isn't recommended as a matinenance dose - 1000mg would be the maximum for a maintenance dose unless advised by a medical professional as it can affect how the processes in your cell use B12 and cycle it into the right form to use in your cells.
