B2 vitamin

I have recently come across having low B2 causing low mode, fatigue, skin problems, hair falling out etc.

I have had some of the symptoms of low B2 I know my b12 is in the right range.

A B2 test needs you to do a pee test. I’ve not ever been tested for low B2 and I’m wondering may be this is getting missed as others have been concerned with low energy and having the right amount of b12 but still feeling unwell.

Has anyone thought about getting a test done for low B2 or had any experience with this ?

That's interesting. How did you find out you were deficient?

You do need a daily input as not stored

B vitamins as I understand it work together.

B2 included in b complex supplements and basic multivits.

Also in mushrooms tofu

Fish and milk and many more foods.

But who knows what each individual can absorb from their food.

I'm continuing to take a multivit

There isn’t a blood test for b2, it’s measured in your pee so I’m not sure if it’s missed off the regular tests with gps.

I will be mentioning in my next appointment in feb

I had some symptoms with skin issues, with B2 you can have skin issues, hair falling out, fatigue.

I have tried taking b2 tablets and they have helped me abit with my folic acid it was just something a came across and thought I’d mention it as I’m not sure if it’s normally checked with the regular b12, iron , folate vitamins.

If you have PA you won’t be able to absorb tablets for b12 and need the injections

My body is a bit all over the place from cancer treatment I had when I was a baby and is all over the place with absorbing things as an adult.

Just something I thought may help others :)

Hi,

I would like to get all my B vitamins tested at some point. It is possible to get private blood tests for various B vitamins in UK, I'm not sure about urine tests for B2.

NHS link about B vitamins

nhs.uk/conditions/vitamins-...

I wondered if you are getting enough B12 and folate as it's possible to have symptoms even with normal range serum results.

How often do you get B12 injections from NHS?

"I know my b12 is in the right range."

Do you mind me asking what your current level is?

I had severe symptoms including many neuro problems with serum B12 results as high as 500 ng/L.

Point 5 in next link is about being symptomatic for B12 deficiency with an in range serum B12 result.

b12deficiency.info/b12-writ...

Next link mentions symptoms of B12 deficiency and folate deficiency

Have you had any thyroid tests recently? Quite a few on here have thyroid issues as well as PA or B12 deficiency from other causes.

I suggest you put any recent thyroid results on Thyroid UK forum on HU.

Thanks for the reply, all my tests are fine for thyroid my b12 is actually well within range and my folate and thyroid is all good.

I have regular bloods done from cancer treatment when I was a baby and it’s left my body in a state as an adult.

Just an update: I have been taking b2 supplements and it’s actually helping, it’s been making such a difference. So I do wonder when testing for b12 and feeling tierd and other symptoms, low b2 should be tested for at the gp ?

It seems to be missed off as there isn’t a blood test for it.

I did ask some private places about b2 and they don’t offer a blood test. You need to go to your gp to get the range as it’s tested in your pee.

But as I’m doing well on the B2 supplements I’ll mention it at my next appointment in Feb .

Doing better with fatigue and feel brighter.

Maybe it’s something that should be looked into for others who still feel unwell even though getting b12 injections and have a good range

Just a thought and thought to report to help others :)
