B12 transdermal patches

I was at a business networking meeting earlier this week and I was talking to a guy who owns a company making transdermal vitamin patches, based in Lincolnshire.

He didn't know I was a PA sufferer, but he was very passionate about his product and the testing process. I have now ordered a pack of B12 Booster+ patches to try them for myself.

I didn't know if anybody else fancied giving them a try? My GP will only give me a dose every 4 weeks. Tablets don't work for me and I absolutely won't be injecting myself. I am hopeful that these patches might be the solution.

Hi,

I didn't find patches effective but hope you see a benefit.

There have been posts on the forum that suggested the B12 molecule was too large to pass through the skin.

Links to other forum threads that mention patches.

Hi TL,

I really hope they work for you and you have some benefits. Unfortunately, they patches didn’t for me.

Best wishes

I tried patches and they didn’t help one jot . I covered myself in them eventually , to no avail . A scientist who used to post on this forum , maintained that the Vitamin B12 molecule was too large to be administered through the skin . The only way he reckoned that they could work was if the patch contained micro needles that would pierce the skin

Those interested in technical mattters might find this research article interesting. It even has a blurry picture of a "spikey" microneedles patch!

"Effects of chemical and physical enhancement techniques on transdermal delivery of cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) in vitro"

Yes , maybe those would work -similar to a sub- cutaneous injection really . Would only be of interest to us though if they were obtainable over the counter ! ( and cheaper than self administered B12 injections . ) Have not seen any on sale though .

I have been using them for over 3 months. You can buy them on Amazon at £9.99 for 30 days supply. I feel better but not sure if it is that or the 3 monthly injections (6 months in) or bone broth which I take intravenously every day. I have read about molecules being too large to pass through the skin but that was written in 2005 and I read elsewhere that technology has moved on. It may be placebo effect of course but my husband who doesn’t have B12 deficiency tried them and felt ‘livelier’ after a few days.

Thanks for the information. We have to bear in mind also that we are all different . What works for one may not work for another . And also as we know , we are searching on the dark when it comes to dealing with B12 deficiency . I treasure this forum because it is great to hear how others are helping themselves . Very best wishes to you .

The point about B12 molecules being too large is meant to be taken as the case without any additional techniques being used. It is well-known that some substances can help to shepherd molecules through which otherwise cannot pass through skin.

I am not clear that there is, or is not, any known, effective, approach for B12 molecules.

Just notice that you write that you take bone broth INTRAVENOUSLY. Is that really so?

Libuse profile image
Libuse in reply to wedgewood

Yes, because I can’t swallow and gave all nutrition intravenously. I buy the concentrate bone broth, very expensive but very energising!

I see - Yes bone broth is so very good ? I sometimes make it myself when I can get organic bones .

Probably an awful lot cheaper and just as nutritious 🙂

Hi Wedgewood,You are certainly right about that, it’s not my site I am just a customer, but value this companies ethical practice, and always sending monthly offers out. Also when you find something good I believe it’s only right to share with others that will appreciate it too.. Take Care 🙏🏾

Are you taking it via a peg tube that goes directly to your stomach rather than IV? I’m a nurse and have never heard of intravenous bone broth.

Hello. No for last 15 years I have had jejustomy (I still can’t spell it!) tube following treatment for cancer of œsophagus. That’s why I developed B12 deficiency as nutrition bypasses the stomach. Even my dietician wasn’t aware this could happen and it was only discovered by chance blood test last Spring. I inject the concentrate bone broth diluted with water, texture no different to my usual food and doesn’t block the tube. 🙂

I’m glad to hear you’re doing so. I’ve been following Weston Price Assoc guidelines as much as possible for about 15 yrs. it makes perfect sense!

Where do you get the patches and how much are they please?

Amazon- OmniCo £9.90 for 30 days. I wear one a day, upper arm. Ignore reviews that say they are difficult to peel off and fall off. You soon get used to applying them. As I said not sure whether they work but they are inexpensive and certainly don’t do any harm. I feel better anyway ….

Never worked for me. Didn’t work for my partner either and did not raise his serum B12 - he doesn’t have PA. We used for 8 weeks to test in a bit of an experiment. I would have thought that if this technology worked it would be in place as a treatment by now - much in the same way as Drs are pushing pills. Interested in what you discover though.

I tried patches very early on but noticed no difference. Personally, I found the most helpful supplement to injections so far has been Lipolife Liposomal B12.
