B12 Patches

I have been reading all the posts about difficulty with no objections of vitamin b12 and just wondered why no one seems to have tried patches. Have I been kidding myself?

Alot have tried patches Fbirder has explained it's not possible to absorb it from them. Scientific reason.

I woukdnr waste your money.

If tablets and sublinguals aren't working for you I doubt these will

Yup. LOts of us have tried patches and given up on them because they do not work. Indeed, they can not work.

Skin is very clever. Millions of years of evolution have moved it in one direction - keeping things out that should be out, and keeping things in that should be in.

Some molecules can cross the skin and enter the body - small, lipophilic (fat loving) molecules. B12 is neither small, nor lipophilic.

People have tried to get B12 to be absorbed across the skin - and succeeded. By two methods - 1. Making the patch full of tiny needles filled with B12; and - 2. Putting an electric current across the skin and the patch. Simply coating a sticking plaster with B12 cannot possibly work.

Which makes you wonder at the hundreds of five-star reviews they get on Amazon.

I have found so many falsified reviews on Amazon . I complained -they were removed , but reappeared later !

I put up a one-star review for something two weeks ago. Last week I got an email from them saying they'd give me a full refund if I removed the review. I'd already sent them back for a refund. Yesterday they emailed to say they'd give me £20 to remove the review!

I think a lot of the positive reviews for things like B12 patches are a combination of the placebo effect and people not wanting to admit that they paid cash for something that was useless.

I know 100% that people are paid to give 5 star glowing reviews for Amazon items . One has to accept that as a hazard of buying from Amazon I’m afraid , and be very cautious . .....

It's why I tend to ignore 5-Star reviews and concentrate on the 1-Star.

Hmmm, the offer for removing my review has gone up to £25.

£30!

This time next year I'll be a millionaire.

I agree with the others . Completely useless . In my desperation , I covered myself in the things . No effect whatsoever . Injections are the only things that work for me . I self inject because my GP would not let me have more than one jab every 3 months which was insufficient for me to keep well. . I won’t bore you with details . Self injection is cheap and reliable .

if they work for you then continue with them

I would say, I have used, not sure if I have benefitted completely but my symptoms were not as severe, but still there! They are not as good as the injection, but I use as a stop gap, as my gp won't give me 8 week injections and I have a fear of needles to self inject, although I am trying to conquer this, but in the meantime this is better than nothing and if that is a placebo effect then fine, it's better than having severe symptoms! I don't go by reviews, I like to try things myself and make a decision whether to use or not!!
