B12 Patches.

Hello, has anyone had any experience of B12 patches? I was thinking of giving them a try before going back to the GP to try to change his mind about telling me I don't have P.A. Any information would be very much appreciated, thanks.

I’m afraid i found them totally useless . I have read that the B12 molecule is too large to penetrate the skin i also tried sub -lingual lozenges and nose spray without any success at all . That said i read on this forum that some PA patients find them helpful between injections ( not the patches though) PA is difficult to diagnose. The intrinsic Factir Antibody test results in a negative outcome in about 50 % of PA patients - So how can your doctor be so confident ? Would be good if he gave you trail loading doses to see if that relieved your symptoms . B12 is very cheap . I know because i’m forced to buy from German online pharmacies and self inject .An injection costs me about £1.50 I have a positive PA diagnosis , but cannot get regular enough B12 injections from my GP to keep me well and alleviate my symptoms . ( like most of us on this forum ) This is how i manage to keep well. If we could get the treatment we need , this forum would not need to exist . As it is , it is a life-saver . our Chairman, Martyn Hooper has written books about P.A. Available on Amazon ( choose Amazon smile and choose PAS as your charity if you use Amazon )

Hello and thank you for your reply. I was thinking of trying patches as I don't know how to get injections. My GP won't prescribe them as he is convinced that I don't have PA.

Some find them helpful - others don't - possible that some may use micro-needles to inject through the skin - otherwise its difficult to see how B12 would succeed in getting through the skin in sufficient amounts for the product to work.

I use then all the time - at a higher dose than recommended on the packet. I felt an almost instant relief when I first tried them- it was as if a part of my brain came alive again. I had tried sublingual tablets - with little or no effect. I put patches on sometimes daily - but certainly several times a week. I would think it was worth giving them a try.

I covered my body with those patches when I was so desperately unwell —useless for me and expensive . Injections are cheap and work 100% for everyone .

Could I ask which type you use?

Google VersandApo, it is an online German pharmacy widely used by many people here. There are other German pharmacies but just to get an idea of cost go on Versandapo website and search B12 depot and it will show you the injections. Most people use the Rotexmedica make. If the website is in German use the Chrome browser and it will be in English.
