Covid Tongue

I've read that B12 can causes mouth sores ect and oral thrush.

Many of you have suffered this. So I'm aware of this.

My b12 acute B12 symptoms s didn't involve this apart from a couple of ulcers and the corners of my mouth a bit sore on and off.

After reading this about a 'covid tongue' I'm now wondering g with all the other side effects I've had from the first vaccine it's brought it on.

Susceptibility there now as b12 deficiency symptoms do mimic alot of long covid symptoms. I had oral thrush once before but that made more sense as I'd had two lots of antibiotics and a tooth extraction.

Although I had to have a filling repaired no anaesthetic was used and I wonder just another disruption in my mouth. This is severe and painful. Making me feel ill.

Anyway for information.

I'd never heard of 'covid tongue' which is basically bad oral thrush when your immune system gets a hit.

Nackapan in reply toElston

Seems to vary . Some nothing. Some a mild reaction for 2 days. Some a strong reaction like me. Some react to first or second. My friends seem to have reacted more to 2nd dose of pzifer and if any reaction at all first dose of astra zenica. Was your the pzifer.?

My mum and husband were both fine!! I got the short straw.

Bet you are relieved you've had the full course now for very good protection.

Appears yo be the only way ..Di we csn all try snd get on.

Oh okay thanks I haven't got that in but I have bicarb. Will get some .

I'm drinking lemon water. On second treatment which at least allows me to sleep more

Sometimes I csnt help think "give me a break

I love food . Horrid when even that hurts.

jox1 in reply toNackapan

Candida loves acid so sodium bicarb is an excellent treatment. In gut sugars create an acid environment also so sodium bicarb 40mins after meal is good (obviously digestion needs acid to work so Candida is present commensally but the idea is to close it down when digestion is finished otherwise it carries on feeding and growing afterwards)

Nackapan in reply tojox1

Thanks. I thought lemon in water was good.

Perhaus not then. Will have that with meal.

Am using second local anti fungal treatment. Nystatin thus time.

Will fit in some gargles too.

I get up in the night as mouth so sore and apply it away from food and drink.

I will demand ti be actually seen at a week as quite ridiculous . Ant to make sur I'm treating g the right thing???

Never realised so sore and so common.

I thought it was if you are immunosuppressed like Hiv it a problem.

I've had all sorts if 'extras' recently.

jox1 profile image
jox1 in reply toNackapan

Nystatin is powerful if the problem is Candida. If immune system has become unbalanced e.g. because of gut overgrowth of yeast or sugar / carb rich diet then these secondary symptoms can happen. It doesn't mean immune system is compromised though. But If say 5 days of nystatin doesn't clear the problem then you need to look at the problem again....

Nackapan in reply tojox1

Thanks. I'm on that .Just odd I've got it .

And badly too

My diet is good.

I have reduced saturated fats ect in a bid to lower cholesterol

It dud go down but ratio went up ??

Lost weight I don't need to

The gut bacteria overgrowth I wi look into.

Thanks for your thoughts

jox1 profile image
jox1 in reply toNackapan

Things in diet as innocent as root vegetables can feed gut yeast - have a look at Candida diets and some of the herbal supplements if you think the gut thing may be happening. Can Defence and Candida Support from Now products both pretty good...

jox1 profile image
jox1 in reply tojox1

Paleo diet is a good one to do also

Nackapan profile image
Nackapan in reply tojox1

Will look into that. Thanks

Nackapan profile image
Nackapan in reply tojox1

Yes all very tricky.

in reply tojox1

Yeast does not like acid. Yeast is killed by stomach acids. Betaine HCL is part of the supplement regime used to kill Candida along with garlic extracts and other antimicrobials.

Hi, try cutting out on some yeast foods, like bread and gravy? Yeast is the main overgrowth in our gut to start off any oral thrush or candida in ya system.Maybe while it calms down ?

No advice, just sympathy. I’ve had a near constant headache since the first one. Going to see if I can get a referral to a neurologist.

I also wonder if my immune system couldn’t handle the vaccine. Hopefully we will improve.

Nackapan profile image
Nackapan in reply toBonjourtristesse

Yes does seem to have changed things for us..I have sympathy as headaches migraine and head pains have been debilitating. I have more head pain now rather than an ongoing throbbing sort.

My head has definitely improved.

I went yo a neurologist specifically for headaches . He said either an ongoing chronic tension sort or vestibukar migrain. I think they changed. So many different sorts .

Was sorting a headache clinic tgen lockdown.

2 neurologists said to me no quick fix. One wanted me on amitriptyline which I did try.

Another propranolol which I didn't.

I woukd research wgars used ti ask the right questions

I akso trued pysio for headaches

The neck stretching exercises I still do .

Mine are connected to vision.

Eyes healthy so must be nerves neurons not connecting.

I think by avoiding artificial light tv reading or trying to has helped symptoms but not really doable cone winter with dark evenings.

Perhais yiu need more sessions with the? Oestiopath you saw for your neck.

One thing is I'm on very few pain killers now thank goodness. Bit scary the alternating and different cocktails I had fir 2 years. Some pains ate not touched by what I use.

Do be careful of rebound headaches with paracetamol.

Neurologists love jumping on that

I stopped all paracetamol for 28 days to prove not a rebound headache!!

Rather than just believe me

Upping but D helped me.

I'm still waiting fir mouth to improve otherwise plan 3 fluconazole tablet bought otc cure all (I hope) looks more lije thrush tgsn it dud at the start .I'm convinced it's because my immune system knocked big time.

Hope your head improves very soon.

Bonjourtristesse in reply toNackapan

I agree with pretty much all you say.

I'm taking as few painkillers as possible because I know they're not good. If I am not stressed and after a b12 injection, it resolves so I'm pretty sure it's nerve pain.

I wonder if you got 'further down the path than I did' with b12 symptoms before treatment. I think maybe immune system having problem with vaccine response or trouble calming down again. I don't think non b12 deficient people have these issues so I am definitely not anti vax.

This looks helpful:

Bonjourtristesse in reply toNackapan

Thank you Nackapan. I have some stronger painkillers and have set up a neurology appointment. I think it’s partly stress.

How are you doing?

Nackapan profile image
Nackapan in reply toBonjourtristesse

Repaired tooth fallen apart eating a sandwich! Mouth improving but trying to get a repeat prescription as was told yk uses nyston for 10 days and realises day 6 it's nearly finished!!

Was eating better today until tooth fell apart.

Good you have a neurology appointment sorted.

Stress is horrid

Bonjourtristesse profile image
Bonjourtristesse in reply toNackapan

Oh no! That wasn’t a very good repair. I’m glad you’re mouth is a bit better though.

It is. And trying not to be stressed is also stressful!

I'm not Jewish, but I do try to adhere to dietary laws in Leviticus 11. Horseshoe Crab blood in vaccine. Not supposed to eat it? Don't inject that stuff in me! WHY is Horse shoe crab blood IN the vaccine? To DECREASE your immune response to OTHER portion of the vaccine! No shot for me! I'm trying to fight off cancer! I want my immune system running full bore! Ist allergist that saw me 60 years ago BEGGED my mother not to let me have smallpox vaccine. Why? Allergic to the horse blood with which it was made back then. No injections of animal blood for me! Would have killed me outright then, likely would do so now.

No please. I'm only giving my body's reaction when b12 deficient.

I'm very much for the covid vaccination as have no other answers.

We need to get out of thus pandemic.

Herd immunity.

This is not a debate .

Plenty of other outlets for that

Just my experience.

Just different b12 deficiency symptoms happening I've got to get through.

Then move on
