Could my issue be b12 related or not with these ranges.

any insight on these levels will be helpful.

Was due to have more blood work but had a cough so they said after another 2 weeks will do bloods.

These are the only blood tests for b12 I have had dates are also included

Symptoms started 2013 and have gone worse

Is it still possible to have b12 deficiency with these ranges .

Thete is something called functional b12 deficiency. You need more tests

Yes definitely. I had debilitating symptoms when my b12 was 306.

Weakness rt ankle, pins and needles hands and feet, extremely cold feet, numness to shins. I tried sub lingual lozenges and my symptoms progressed to include bad back pain, vertigo, confusion and memory loss, urinary accidents. Thats when i started self injecting.

Sibby123. Your last serum B12 result is two and a half years old. You really need a new test to see where it is now.

If you take supplements before any blood test you'll never know what your baseline level is and that may make it difficult to get treatment from your GP, if you need it (oral tablets or sublingual sprays may not sufficiently treat those with absorption issues or neurological symptoms).

The PAS and all treatment guidelines advise not to take any B12 supplements prior to testing (for the above reason). As you already have a blood test booked, suggest you wait until after that test before taking any supplements.

Your absolutely right in these last two years just got busy with new baby , my mum got ill had kidney failure ended up on dialysis I was looking after her trying to get a blood test in but because of me catching the flu they don’t want to do test until 2 weeks.

I had b12 levels at 327 with neurological symptoms pins and needles/numbness hands and feet dizzy and tired. The dr put me on b12 injections for life and it helped with the symptoms about 4 days later.

I know in America you can b 12 shots for 20$ at a private lab tests now clinic at least to give it a shot and see if you feel better... pun intended

Thankyou for reply , your symptoms sound similar to mine , how did your doctor agree to give you injections.

Well he also tested the intrinsic factor antibody which came up positive almost 20 I believe... but he still says that my b12 should have been lower if I had true pa... but anyway I will take it!

Scientist, not medic, but I have done thousands of IFAb tests.

If your IFAb is positive [not 'borderline' or 'perhaps'] then the numbers are largely irrelevant. Positive is Positive, pure and simple. It's PA unless I'm very much mistaken.

I agree, my levels were in the low 300s when I started to try and get help again. At that point I had tiredness and pins and needles in arm and weakness in fingers. I was told all fine.

And oral supplements didn't fix these issues for me I needed injections.

Thankyou for responding , It could most definitely be the issue , now Iv started supplementing night not even get the right blood results , seems as if anything under 400 could possibly cause symptoms.

I got private injections at a clinic before I resorted to self injecting during pandemic. My doctor wouldn’t entertain a trial and refused to acknowledge a connection even after I improved.
