This is all new to me, I’m in the middle of having my loading doses and was told I’d have them for two weeks then in 3 months. I knew I was ill, as breathless, tachycardia (high heart rate) and most amazing vertigo were the worst of my symptoms. I asked for print outs for B12, ferritin and folate from March and August.
I have gluten intolerance - coeliacs needs a biopsy but as I was lactose intolerant and had symptoms of fructose malabsorption then it’s not rocket science. Anyway, the big problem I encounter is because I also have a mental health diagnosis (bipolar) I have not received proper care for many years. I know lots of others here haven’t.
I do have neurological symptoms, I’m familiar with the BNF, NICE guidelines and I will be asking for the injections to continue until my symptoms dissipate. Now how not to come across as a ‘hysterical hypochondriac’. I’ve joined PAS and I have kept a diary of symptoms. Any advice gratefully received.

You seem very well informed. Hope the loading doses start to do their work. Yrs a diary of symptoms a very good idea ti submit to your Gp in writing if you need the every other day injections s to continue. Or if you feel you dont 2 monthly not 3 monthly as neurological symptoms . Letters cant be ignored.
I have been diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder type 2 after a lifetime of episodes of severe depression. After 8 months of injecting every other day the symptoms have gone as have many other symptoms, such as ageing. It is not a hypochondria nor is the benefit due to a imagination.
I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis, years of severe depression and dare I say it, being mismanaged. It’s wonderful to hear that your symptoms have gone after the proper treatment.
I am going to play nice, smile and nod but it’s all being noted. 😉
I’m sure that your depression will disappear when you get sufficient treatment with B12 injections . So many P.A. patients can become seemingly depressed before treatment. , and are prescribed anti-depression tablets. We often hear of that .
