I used to get palpitations with several other B12 deficiency symptoms before I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia. Since getting adequate B12 injections ( this is now self -injecting weekly ) I never get the palpitations .

What you need are your injections reinstating at a level that keeps those symptoms at bay . You should write to your surgery and ask for this and state that your symptoms are returning . Failing that, consider self injecting . It is cheap and easy .

I have had terrible heart palpitations since I’ve been B12 deficient. I’ve also had 2 normal EKGs and a halter monitor for a week (awaiting results) it’s been 7 weeks since I’ve been on injections and my heart is staring to settle down.

Also.. have you had your iron checked? You could have anaemia caused by low iron. I had both. Hope you feel better soon

Have you had your vitamin d checked?

I had many symptoms that leaned towards heart issues, with a normal ECG. All of them have disappeared since b12 and vitamin d supplementation.

I mention vitamin d because I had a heavy pressure at times, near my breast bone that I have since read can be from very low vitamin d - mine was 7.6/19.

But with the heart always best to get as much testing/consulting as needed and never err on the side of assumptions. All the best to you.

Ask for a homocysteine test. If you're deficient in either B12 or folate then your hCys levels can rise.

High levels of hCys are well known to be associated with cardiovascular problems.

strong evidence that the association between homocysteine and cardiovascular disease is causal. On this basis, lowering homocysteine concentrations by 3 μmol/l from current levels (achievable by increasing folic acid intake) would reduce the risk of ischaemic heart disease by 16% (11% to 20%), deep vein thrombosis by 25% (8% to 38%), and stroke by 24% (15% to 33%).

A combination of B12, folate and B6 is generally used to reduce HCy. All to do with the methylation cycle.

A good point mentioning HCY.

I’ve had those symptoms for over a year had heart checks nothing found other than something called pots which just means my heart rate jumps when I stand up or sit up but other then that nothing else but I feel I am deficient in b12 due to all the symptoms I’ve been experiencing.
