Getting symptoms but not technically deficient in B12

Getting symptoms (palpitations, shortness of breath) of B12 deficiency but I am not technically deficient. My B12 is 271 and folate was 4.6 before I began on folic acid tablets to correct this. Should I be taking B12 tablets too?

ECGs and Chest X-Rays came back normal.

Have you had iron tested as this can cause palpitations and shortness breath?

No but had full blood count done and it came back fine. Didn’t know there was a specific test for iron?

Yes full iron panel/studies

Wouldn't be done on normal blood count its separate test, also low potassium can cause those symptons as well

Probably good idea to check all vitamins and thyroid aswell if you haven't done so

Was that the doctor's opinion of a TSH test result?

Many, many people have TSH result within range but do have thyroid issues. You really need to go further than a simple "fine".

Serum TSH was 1.9 miu/L

You seem, possibly, to be hitting the testing wall - if TSH is within range, don't even test Free T4, and don't even consider Free T3.

Hi,Hinch 199

Here in Spain the minimum for b12 is 500 with an upper figure of 1000, which would definitely class you as deficient. If you have symptoms now

Don’t wait till it becomes worse.

Hi, I did read about that. Have started on 10ug supplements. Don’t know if that’ll help or not

271 is within range, but could be low. You could check your MMA to be sure. See stichtingb12tekort.nl/weten.... But the symptoms you have could very well also be something else, too. Hope you find out!!
