I started B12 injections a couple of months ago and since have come up with several small brown patches on my face and some of dark freckles on my body. I am usually freckly but not dark freckles.
It's also worth noting that I started progesterone and estrogen replacement around the same time.
Has anyone any experience of this when starting B12 or hormone therapy?
Many thanks

I get them. Maybe it's HRT as I don't inject b12, just sublingual tablets. I was told it was the sun and aging by doc. Called Solar Lentigigo. Boring! I thought my aging worry would be wrinkles not brown splodges too!! ๐
I read that melasma is symmetrical... mine isn't. Not Vitiligo either. This site has pics of my brown splodges. Don't think we can do much. I did wonder about trying IPL treatment. If there was a local clinic I would give it a go, but there isn't I may investigate further.
I've tried freezing one particular one off with Cryotherapy and later with a heat treatment that burnt the top off ( both were by doctors) that one is still there along with the rest!
I did ivf for my last two pregnancies and got this from the progesterone. It started out red then turned brown. It has faded some but not as much as I would like. My youngest turns 2 at the end of November. It may just need more time to fade more.
Itโs melasma, hormonal & may fade in time but there is not a lot you can do about it. I have it too in large splodges on my face & tried everything to get rid of it although it has faded a little over time.
It's the hormone that causes chloasma (brown patches on skin) I had that many years ago from contraceptive pill. Mine was named butterfly mark, as on cheeks and upper lip. Use high sun screen. Mine took years to fade, I came off pill as a result.
Ah ..... . you think I should use high sun screen?
is that because I am more susceptible to skin damage now? or just discourlation?
Many thanks for your response

Yes, highly recommended factor 50. Don't let it get worse. Mine has faded after 20 years, but still have a light moustache :๐
Melasma, by definition, is the โmask of pregnancyโ. Chloasma is the same thing in a non-pregnant woman. In reality the conditions are the same caused by oestrogen.
ha ha.... i rock a Joan Collins look and love wearing my sun hat, probably got less wrinkles too. Shame it took me so long to care about my skin. Not doing bad for 53 years though!
