B12 injection surprise. I can have it

I phoned my GP surgery this afternoon as I have to repeat an earlier blood test for thyroid levels as she thought my thyroxine dosage may be too high. I was asked if I wanted the blood test at the surgery or hospital and I replied surgery which was the case before lockdown.

So I asked if I could have a B12 injection at the same time. I was asked if I had been having injections during lockdown which I had as my last injection was early April. The appointment was made before lockdown. At the time the nurse said to wait as long as possible before the next one, I do self inject anyway. Much to my surprise I can have an injection at the surgery.

Has the guidance changed now lockdown has eased or was I just lucky. I had mentioned it previously to the doctor but was told they were moving people to tablets at that time and my record for repeat perscription for B12 was suspended and still is.

I am not going to rock the boat and will wait till I see the nurse and ask her is she can issue me with a repeat prescription as this is my last vial. Just wondering what is happening with others?

I've carried on having them at the surgery. Then managed to get a prescription. So at present only go every 6 weeks rather than every 2 weeks. I might go less as sc at home less painful and seemingly just as effective.

So tour surgery just doing the correct thing . My daughters surgery conti used t8 give them too. Just have to wear a mask and knock to get in. Aksi asked on day if any symptoms of the virus.

I had no problem at all inspite of all I read and what I've head. Maybe I just timed it right. The expity date is short on prescriptions so I can only get one ampule at a time. Wishing you well 999 x

I get a prescription for 5 x hydroxyl cobalamin vials from my GP. The expiry date is always several months. If you get a prescription for 5 vials then the expiry date should always be several months ahead - usually 10 months - if it isn't point out this to your chemists.

Thank you Bella. Luckily it was the chemist who explained that the expiry date is so short hence he gave me just one. It's not a problem, I am still due four when he gets more in x

My surgery has continued to give injections throughout lockdown. I started having my loading doses as we went into lockdown and am due my second 8 weekly shot next Tuesday, which they have booked, like the last one, with no problem (other than arguing that I couldn’t have it early when I told them my symptoms have returned).
