How does it feel to have too much B12?

I have not SI for 5 weeks now due to anxiety/panic attacks arising after my last couple of injections. I am not sure if I needed to push through this or stop and let things settle. How can you tell whether you need more or less B12? I am finding this very confusing...

Hi Krysagnes,

You really need to learn about this illness because it is totally bizarre. Become a member of the Pernicious Anaemia Society and buy Dr Joseph Chandy and Dr Hugo Minney’s book Vitamin B12 Deficiency in Practice. GPs do not know about it because they have so many other diseases to learn. Plus the bureaucracy.

So, all the anxiety, depression, fluctuations in mood, energy crashes, increased pain is your Nervous System waking up after being starved. Do you know how amazing your Nervous System is ? Most people do not.

I want to TYPE on my keypad the letter I, my mind had the thought, my brain sends a signal down my arm and I flex my wrist, I shape my hand, I bend my fingers, then I precisely hit the letter I with my middle finger. But I have to be able to see my keyboard with my eyes.

You feel very jangled when the Nervous System is being rebooted. Internal tremors or vibrations. But it’s the healing process. So, if you stop, your health is more than likely to deteriorate. Then when you start treatment again, the horrible sensations start again. So, you are back to square 1, back to panic attacks and anxiety but this time it is months or a year later.

How do you know when you do not need B12. When you have a good nights sleep for a week, are calm and content, do all the things you normally do, aren’t in pain. A symptoms diary because your symptoms are yours. You monitor them.

The worsening of symptoms with treatment is the reversing out process. The Nervous System is a real awkward one to heal but it can and does. Needs time, patience and acceptance. Just gentle reminders of telling yourself, I am healing, the B12 is waking up my nerves, I’m going to feel very peculiar.

😘

Thank you Narwhal10 for your reply - that's very helpful. I was just nervous that I had overdone things. I was trying to work out whether to restart slowly or just have a bit more of a break. I suppose everyone is different and maybe we should all go at different speeds?

B12d.org/book to download for free, and the printed copies (both black and white and there's a colour version) are at cost to print price - so now you know what Amazon charges to print a book, and can see how much profit everyone usually makes!!

Thank you, I have the book already though - but your info is helpful for others!

You can't overdose on B12. It would be wise to inject every other day until you are symptom free. Then experiment with how long you can go without symptoms returning. I get tingly toes after 3 weeks. So I inject once a week for maintenance.
