I went to my gp yesterday, still no appointments it’s like trying to get into Fort Knox, ring the bell and stay outside till nurse comes. They had text me to come down to surgery.
I collected my form for blood tests at the local hospital and a 24 hour urine sample,I’m really pleased that’s hes actioned the stuff that my private endo professor asked him to.They are going to check my b12 and folate,no point to that as ive been supplementing also calcium levels and my glucose levels as medichecks blood test said pre diabetis.when I had the blood tests done with them they said no special instructions so I phoned and explained I couldn’t get a time slot till 4pm for blood draw and was it a fasting test they said no just don’t eat after 12 so I’m not convinced about the pre diabetis result so I’m glad the professor has asked gp to retest. He also said he wasn’t happy with the way my kidney stones hadn’t been properly investigated in his opinion,I’ve always asked was this Lower back pain and flank pain related to the kidney stones and they said no and I’m havng an especially painful week with this ,it seems to come in bouts,no pain for days then intense pain for days like now so I’ll be glad to have another opinion from someone who seems a bit more interested. On the 30th I have the sst test I’m dreading that any tips on prepping for that would be good please I get so scared and worked up with anything hospital related.
Good things have got rolling. Yes it is odd going to the surgery. Ours is also locked. They see mr straight away as look like a cowboy with my hat(for lights) mask and gloves. The nurses have visas on.
Also good your Go sanctioned the requests.
Think of the hospital as a big surgery.
I've no experience of the adrenal tests but my daughter has. She said they were fine. I will ask if you want more details.
Sorry to hear you e been in pain.
This is a time of discovery and explanations I hope. Excluding things too.
Also a time of anxiety as findings can sometimes raise as many questions as any solutions.
I also had a bad fall but not to the the extent you had. .I sometimes flip to Headway . There my vision /migraun light sensitivity were given clear descriptions.
Minefield.
You ate on your way with a good director to wade through.
The diabetes test will not be affected if you weren't fasting. It will be an HbA1c test.
When red blood cells are made glucose molecules attach to the haemaglobin. They stay there until the red cells die, about three months later. The HbA1c test measures how much glucose it attached, so it gets an average measure as to how much glucose has been in your blood over the previous three months.
Yes your right it’s HbA1c test as you say 24 hour urine and blood samples tomorrow and fasting blood sugar and blood glucose and fasting glycosylated haemoglobin plus b12 and folate.
Thank you cherylclaire I’m actually just back from the hospital I did the 24 hr urine container and had my blood taken for testing ,the nurse was brilliant ,the place was absolutely packed queuing down the corridor waiting to have bloods done poor people. All had masks on and the elderly people seemed so disorientated and scared. The nurse sitting bored handing out stupid tickets could have been better used doing house visits to save these poor people so much distress,no one does any sensible thinking do they.
Sst is to check my adrenal function, they inject cortisol then take blood samples at intervals to see how my adrenals react.not looking forward to that one lol.
As an aside I had food poisoning on Monday,it was a poached egg caused it,I couldn’t eat much from Monday afternoon till this morning which didn’t bother me as I was fasting for bloods but I’ve noticed I’ve lost two pounds and I’m not so dizzy and lightheaded, wonder if it’s high blood sugar that’s making me feel unwell but I def feel better since reducing eating.I don’t know a lot about that but they said I’m pre diabetic at last bloods so that’s why the extra tests.X
Poor you - food poisoning as well ! A poached egg would normally be seen as a good source of extrinsic factor B12, too.
I remember once saying that the only time I felt alright was when I wasn't eating for some test or other - trouble with this is that you are then at the wrong end of an elimination diet, and also "not eating" would not be a sustainable recovery method, whatever the problem !
Let's wait and see what they make of your test results. Guessing that doing blood samples day in, day out means that they have got it down to a fine (pain-free) art .
It’s funny I usually avoid dairy but I was dying for an egg.if I make scrambled or omelette then I’m usually ok because they are thoroughly cooked but poached boiled or fried I really react but I’ve worked out now that’s because I’m not cooking the yolk properly as I want it runny,I think that’s what it is anyway lol.
IVe always said the only time I felt what I’ll call well was when I was on antibiotics for something, now I avoid like the plague as I’ve had such bad reactions with them.Xx
Haven't had antibiotics very often- was previously naturally a very healthy person I believe- but never had any trouble with them before. Since being B12 deficient, I've had them twice: in both cases, they gave me splitting headaches and bad vertigo. Sofa-bound on both occasions.
Once was for gum infection prior to tooth extraction (Metronidazole) and once because SIBO suspected as cause of my raised MMA (Doxycycline).
Well, at least I got rid of both tooth and SIBO diagnosis- but like you, not keen on repeating the experience.
I had awful tummy pains and trots 5 times and blinder of a headache,I knew straight away it was the egg,how come we always remember after we actually do it lol
last antibiotics I had were for HPylori ,triple therapy twice because we couldn’t kill it off,I made sure I pushed them to do the breath test afterwards to confirm all clear.
I have so many wonderful plans for the future even at my age and I’m desperate to get well to be fit enough to do this, how anyone can say we want to be dependant on shots or meds is beyond me,
