Confused blood test

Hey guys me again, I was wondering if someone would be so kind and help?

Right here goes, I've had b12 and folate check b12 177 my gp practice under range is 180 so borderline , I've had 5 loading doses 3 months ago and not due my next one until September! (6 monthly!? And that is because the gp is doing me a favour?)

Any way in my previous post i had rang my gp and said symptoms are returning and questioned why it should be 6 months not 3 and the gp said it normally is 3 months but it looks like the gp before was going you a favour.

Any how I spoke with the practice manager who said they are correct they are doing everything right.

And to have a b12 blood test to check my levels , I've had the blood test and having a phone consultation tuesday,

My question is surely my levels will be raised? Even having loading doses 3 months ago? Are they doing this purposely so they can stop them already? She said if they come back in range they will be stopped.

During my blood test I asked the nurse what type of b12 deficiency I have and she said I would of had the interinsic factor blood test done, which I haven't! So she was unsure. As I'm 100% sure it isn't diet related.

I have wrote to the practice manager and listed all my symptoms and awaiting a reply.

My next question is if he comes back and refuses having injections earlier than 6 months , where can i go from here? In regards to the gp. (Gloucestershire )

I have ordered ampules etc just waiting for delivery. Concerned they won't turn up as no email from company of acknowledgment?

Ridiculous to put you through all this. Say you worried about damage if left untreated.

Despite getting my mums b12 injection dine they have now said next one wont be for 6 months !@usually 3 months .

Good you getting your own supplies .

I think this a case of negligence

Get PAS involved.

Hope it gets sorted.

Thanks nackapan , I'm just hoping my supplies arrive. At least I payed via paypal if they don't.

Nervously awaiting a reply from the practice manager, and I already feel that I am that problem patient when I ring up.

I'm not hopeful about the response.

Would I need to make them aware I will be starting to self inject?

Hope your mum can sort her situation out.

I wouldnt say as will give more problems unfortunately you could say tiy are thinking about it? They now prescribe for me to inject at home inbetween the nurse doing it. I just add another 1 or 2 !

Dont worry about what they think. I know I'm treated like that . I atay polite stick to facts and push. They are in a job that should be helping you and treating you. It's there ignorance not yours.

They find me an irritant. I actually dont care anymore I used to. I worked in the NHs for 36 years and do feel very let down. I gave my all in a hospital setting and community as a non medical trained Nursery Nurse.

Tell them you HAVE neurological issues now.

Buy your own Injections as well. It's much easier in my opinion and you might be in this for a while.. The last thing you want to do is stress about stupid doctors. Stress makes this condition way worse..

Yes they are aware but very dismissive when I mention things and have an excuse for everything

I am also from Gloucestershire receiving no treatment, so I have had to go private.

I am under a neurologist for neurological symptoms. He agrees that B12 helps but can't prescribe it.

He requested all tests via the lab. at the hospital but some of them were refused.

I gave up too. The doctor laughed in my face when I told him I had private injections and they were helping me. I self inject. I have problems with the nerves on my right side and didn’t want to wait another 20 years to have someone take me seriously. For £100 I can have an injection every other day for nearly 7 months. Private ones are £30 each.

That's disgusting laughing in your face. (Another hypochondriac with placebo effect 😡) makes me sick the attitude in the UK with doctors. I recently visited my doctor in UAE to see if I can have more frequent injections rather than 6 weekly I had to fight for in UK. His reply.."hey it's your call it's your body, if you feel you need more injections then you can, you can have one every week if it makes you feel better it's only a vitamin and it's very very good for everything. I almost fell off the chair after expecting the UK response. I left that clinic walking on air! You are better off sorting yourself out they are so unhelpful.

Yep, sounds like it happens a lot. That must have been so validating to have someone on your side! I think a lot of people would like to be told they are not crazy, it's demoralising to try and fight with so little energy just to be told no (again). It's just an opinion and I have to remind myself that not everybody is right all the time.

Well we all think the docs should know better but in some cases they don't
